Every Flyers line has a player that is playing a role that is hilariously miscast.

Read isn't a first line player
Weal isn't a second line player
Wiese isn't a third line player
Vande Velde isn't an NHL player

Read: Agree
Weal: Would say that, despite being pretty sound defensively, he basically is either a 2nd/3rd liner or an AHLer.
Weise: Not until very recently here but in Montreal he was a solid top 9.
VandeVelde: a 12th or 13th NHL forward. Most teams have a player like him as their 12 or 13.

I understand there are holes, but with a few adjustments to the lineup elevating Konecny, putting Wiese on the 4th line would make more sense to me. They are coming off a really good effort in Minnesota, so I understand the lines remaining the same.

Read isn't a first line player, but he had a strong game last time out. Weise is capable of playing a 3rd line role in the NHL. On HB, Vandevelde is the devils spawn.

Considering the Flyers right now don't really have 3 legit 1st line players, what can you do? We all know they lack enough talent in the lineup. Right now, Jake is the only legit 1st line player and he's not playing very well right now. We all know that on a Cup contender Weise and Read are 4th liners, PEB is the 12th forward at best and Weal and Vandevelde are black aces. But, guess what? They aren't a contender. Is, what it is.

So what are the playoff scenarios of the Flyers? Whats their magic number?

Their magic number is 1. As in hopefully they win the lottery and get the 1st pick in the draft.

Don't know about a magic number, but last I saw, after the win in Minnesota, it from a 0.3% to a 0.4% chance to make the playoffs.

Baby steps.

its hard to look at it like that though. when you have two guys making nearly nine million, there are going to be guys that need to be better than what they are in other slots.

unless youre the hawks and can just cap circumvent hossa for a decade.

Exactly. Barring a miracle, they aren't going to finish ahead of Toronto, the Isles, or Boston. So, even if they finish strong, they are only going to be rewarded by picking 14th. Not really sure why folks can't seem to understand that ending up in the 9th spot is better than ending up 13th or 14th. Your lottery odds are significantly better, you stand a greater chance of getting a better player and, if you want to move up, it's a lot easier to do with the 9th pick in play, rather than 13 or 14.

Man, you'd think it was rocket science.

- BiggE
All I am saying if you pick 9th there is no guarantee that player is going to end up being better than the player that goes 14th. And you all know, the Flyers don't win lotteries. That's just plain silly.

Konecy in place of Read makes sense and Weise or Read on the 4th. I think that spread the talent they have the best.

Weise will whisper softly in Bob's ear. Couturier will score. Goal will be disallowed and confirmed by Toronto. Flyers lose 2-1.

Thin draft. Trade the pick. Improve the product on the ice for next season.
