If the motivation for making a deal is the results of this season, it would be an overreaction in my opinion. I don't expect much this off season.
- MJL

The motivation is to make the team better now and in the future. That is what our GM has always stated is his plan. Unless you actually think this year ...and last and the one before that, was an anomaly? I would agree if anyone could logically argue that by doing nothing would make this team better next year.... The Flyers are in the bottom third of the league.....and sinking.

Anything can happen. A trade of a defense prospect would be pretty risky.
- MJL

With that logic ANY trade ever in the history of the NHL is risky.

If you don't think giving up franchise changing talent for nothing matters, not sure what to tell you.

Hextall's plan is to draft and develop players. Several new young players are likely going to be on the roster next season at some point. The results of this season aren't going to, and shouldn't change Hextall's plan in any way, in my opinion.

Perhaps you don't understand what my logic is in making that statement.

You should really listen to Hextall's entire answer to his plan. Your missing the second half of it.

How can one enlighten he who is most enlightened? It is you who must enlighten us.

We can be a great fanbase, MJ-El, we wish to be. We only lack the light to show the way.

I'm just a fan who realizes that the people coaching and running the Flyers are the those who are the most enlightened. So I can't answer that question for you. Perhaps you can using the same insight that you used to formulate your narrative on the coaches offensive system

Where are the Bobrovsky's and Sharp's other franchises traded to the Flyers for a bag of pucks? Find the hindsight on the other side of the equation.

If the Flyers were right about everything, they would've won a lot more Stanley Cups

I guess if the standard you want to judge them by is being right about everything. There are fans who think they're right about everything. I'm not foolish enough to hold them to that standard. Secondly there's a lot of variables that are beyond their control to consider.

Leino and Mason? Where are the 30+ goal seasons, and Vezinas?
Flyers won the Simmonds trade no doubt, Kings won two Cups since trading him away. You think they are lamenting the fact they traded Simmonds? I doubt it.

My list of top 5 mistakes The Flyers made. ( not in order)

Signing Bryz to that ridiculous contract and losing Bob by default

Signing Beezer over Cujo

Including Forsberg over Brindamour in the Lindros trade

Not trading Brindamour for Shanahan but later(years) trading him for Primeau

Drafting Ricci over Jagr
