Penalty, sure. But if not for the outcome would anyone even suggest that the league should look at it? It was a pretty routine slash, happens all the time. This one just had an unfortunate result. He definitely should have gotten 2 minutes.

They are not routine. I have seen a slash on the hands this year only a handful of times.

And like hits from behind. Players get suspended on the severity of the hit. Same goes for a slash...it's really no different...

It is a completely unnecessary play. There are soft slashes that happen from time to time sure...but that was a viscous slash that happened to cut the tip of his finger off.

For the record, I don't think Polak should have been suspended either. I totally agree, there's a total lack of consistency in the way suspensions are handed out. Just because they made the wrong call on Polak though, I don't think that means they should make the wrong call on Crosby.
