Bab's " last year I didnt look at the standings once, this year I look every day."

Last year, this site was one of my "most visited" - this year I couldn't give a poop.

I'll leave it to Buffalo, Vancouver and Winnipeg fans.

That's who I was talking about. Did something happen to them?

I couldn't be happier for them... to be somewhere else.

He's quietly had a very good season. In my view, Matthews gets so much attention from other teams, that it relieves some of the pressure. Moreover, he's been guided to go up against top scoring lines, in a defensive role, those lines are not always the top defensive units of opposing teams. Good on him and good on Babcock. His contract is looking like a good deal at this point, see Kopitar ($10 mil - forever and 11 goals ) Also good on Babcock for bringing him around.

Remember when Matthews' projected potential ceiling was Kopitar? Good times.

That was gnarly as hell. In 72 hours Crosby attempts to chop a players balls off and successfully DOES chop a finger off... the outcome... not even 2min in penalties

I'm hearing from multiple sources that Crosby and Marchand did a cross blend of each other's DNA at some point during the WCH. It seems to be paying off for both of them.

Leaguewide standings last season to now:

Toronto went from 30th to 15th

CBJ went from 27th to 4th

Calgary went from 26th to 12th

Edmonton went from 29th to 11th

Montreal went from 22nd to 8th

huge accomplishment for these teams and their coaches

- jimi james

Agree, big difference though is the number of rookies on Toronto vs those other teams.

Also CBJ - Bobrovsky injured and had a subpar season
Mtl - Price out most of the Year and their idiot coach was fired recently

Edmonton made big changes - so a bump is not a huge surprise, but they also were missing McDavid for a good chunk of the season

Calgary's goaltending was pure poop in 2015-16

I am biased, but Babcock stands out here.

I would like to see the Leafs win a round. If they beat Ottawa, great, if they beat the Habs, I'll do a jig.

I too would do a jig if that happened

Yes, I'm thinking that LA is in so much of a salary poopstorm that they will have to trade Doughty just to unload some overpaid crap.

Interesting to see if Sid gets suspended for that. I'm pretty sure if Methot did that to Crosby we would be looking at a 5 to 10 games.

So if a players' "ceiling" is Iginla, we all point and laugh at 11 goals and go "OMG LOL AS IF HE WOULD BE A SUCK LIKE HIM!"?

Isn't Kopitar supposed to be in his prime though?

If a player's ceiling is Iginla in his prime that's something to be excited about.

Well Kopitar was an excellent, underrated player for many years. he has tailed off, as has that whole team.

Iginla scored 35 goals and 89 points when he was 29 like Kopitar is now. It was part of a string of 12 straight 30+ goal seasons that included a 55 and a 54.

I don't think anybody said "Matthews ceiling is Kopitar 10 years after his prime," so (frank) right off French.
