It's about punishing Stepan...somehow someway he must be punished
The thing is, everyone harps on our centers as 1st 2nd 3rd best and lines in the same way...if you think about it it's probably 1A 1B 1C or more likely 2A 2B 2C...meaning they all do about the same. I really can't say who's the best line because they all have moments of solid play and bad play. The top 9, whoever it is involved in it, are generally pretty equal which isn't a bad thing. Terrific depth this group has

Stepan has been terrible for half a season now. Why not try something new? Do u think Stepan is the reason for Zucc and Kreiders success? I don't think they slow down with Hayes, maybe even get better. Hayes is more skilled/talented than Stepan, who knows what those 3 could do together. Stepan has a simpler style, not flashy, but gets the job dobe. Hayes can be very difficult to knock off the puck and can control a shift better than Step. I'd try it and see what happens.

I love competition but I don't see it really being that. No way McDonagh will ever come out and no one will argue that.

Staal is another one that deserves a seat from time to time but I just don't see AV ever benching him.

Benching Smith would piss me off just cause we traded a 2nd and 3rd round pick to get him. If we gave up that for a healthy scratch then that's a huge problem.

Outside of a bad game he had this past week Skjei he has been steady. He really doesn't deserve to come out but I don't know any other person other then Holden that could potentially sit come playoff time.
