I actually agree with you that they haven't necessarily played that bad during this stretch. They just can't finish right now, and the special teams is killing them. When you can't score on the PP, and your PK is playing like crap, that's a recipe for losing a lot of games. Also, not extending a lead when you have a chance to, because you are blowing Grade A scoring opportunities. In sum, in this league, regardless of whether you are playing decent hockey, it's hard to win if your special teams is struggling and you can't finish your chances. - Pete V
They've been flat out dominant the last 2 games from what I've been able to catch

The 3rd period vs Jersey and 2nd vs isles may have been two of the better periods they played all year. Aside from those periods they score 3 or so goals earlier in the season
edit:granted they were struggling, but in minny they played maybe there best all around game in awhile and it was after a long flight after playing the previous night. That showed me something, not sure about anyone else lol
Btw with all the Grabner love, me included, he has 1 goal in 15 games

1 goal last 15 games - Slimtj100
Honestly, his goal scoring pace was absurd, given the fact that he doesn't play on the power play at all. I would have liked to see him get to 30, however, and I would probably bet against that right now.
Just trying to not get players injured. Where they are in the wild card spot is where they will finish. It's just time to ride out the garbage games and get the playoffs started with a healthy squad.

The number is definitely getting up there and hard to ignore. - MiloslavHorava
It really coincides with everyone pretty much (the 29 games), he's just the poster boy for it all. Who has really lit it up offensively? They are still winning enough in that span.

NHL outline for a cup winner in personnel standards needed
there is a common mold being used to win cups …..
look back and tell me when the last cup winner didint have in their lineup
1 A top5 center of lg.
2 A top5 D man &both ways &PP of lg.
3 A top5 scorer of lg.
4 super solid goal tending if not great …
Hasek & Roy stand out as goalies who carried team to cup( not often )
USing that model it fits every team going back to 08 detroit & even them I found
LIndstrom fo D Zetterburg cant think of russian scorer recent retiree
keep looking its a fact of hockey
with out these qualities the odds drop tremendously on winning cup
Hence : I beleive the NYR can break that mold
OR it will force the trade in off season of Step & maybe Nash & Zucc to find missing components cnat touch CORE 6 miller hayes vesey buchny zbad Kreids
