once again bush league reffing and the hawks started to engage the red armbands instead of the panthers...

they earned this spanking: giving up 40 plus shots a game, depending on high octane 3rd period comebacks to get points, actually playing about 20 minutes per game and still managing to go 5-0-1 = COMPLACENCY....geee we can win no matter what...

But where was the world class leadership of Toews to bail them out.... or the rapists' all world skill... guess they're just losing it eh.. have a good night

Are you up for troll of the year - really, one bad game and you jump over the the CHI thread and bash? I don't recall reading any CHI bashing on the PEN thread on 11/16 or 12/22 or even 3/1...

Where was Sidney Crybaby when the Pens lost 7-1 this season.... twice! OR when the Blackhawks spanked them.

That was well-deserved public pantsing. Hope the game in Tampa is a good one. Tampa is a very good team, despite the standings.

If the playoff seeding stays the same its going to be a hell of a 1st round league wide.

One fluke loss after months of dominance....

Meanwhile you guys have lost what now, 9 out of 10? I mean i honestly can't remember the last time you guys won. When was it? And all those losses at home to poopbox teams....yeah....I'm sure the Hawks are "trending" EXACTLY like the Wild at this point....

We'll find out, starting first tomorrow night. True test of good teams is a solid bounce-back after a drubbing.

Unfortunately and with the objection of many of my fellow Hawks fans, I think they are trending much the same way of the Wild. I haven't seen the Wild play too much over the past couple weeks but from the comments of Wild fans in a couple hockey forums and the results on the scoreboard it looks similar to the way the Hawks have played the last 4 games.

Even though some Hawks fans refuse to see the trend and excuse concern with comments like "it's only one game" or "they've taken 35 points out of a possible 44" or other such excuses that ignore the level of play by the Hawks in the last 4 games. There is no doubt the Hawks level of play was very good during the 17-3 stretch but that level of play has been absent the past 4 games and that is the current trand that is alarming. The previous 20 games are in the books and mean nothing in terms of how they are playing now. This string of the past 4 games means everything in terms of current trend and it isn't good and I refuse to stick my head in the sand and pretend everything will be OK. There is no guarantee that they can turn it around anymore that there was when the Wild were 4 games into their current slump.

Now, I do have confidence they will turn it around and get back to playing good hockey but until they do I'm going to continue to wave the caution flag and complain about it.

Yep, I personally believe the Wild slump started even while they were still winning games. Sure they were earning points, but were not playing at the same level previous to the bye week. Now they are in complete free fall. Losing to teams they should be beating. Which really hasn't happened all season.

It was a bad game no doubt. Nobody likes a 7-0 beat down. The Hawks always seem to slump a tad right at the end of the season. This is a battle hardened group. I have no doubt they will be ready come round 1.

Richard Panik feeding Mackenzie and had mercy on him bc the refs weren't breaking them up and Mackenzie was gassed and in a bad spot. I love that 14 brings it every night. 6-0 what a poop show.
- EnzoD

I wouldn't say feeding him he gave him a couple of love taps with the left hand, Panik cant fight for crap. And Mckenzie is a known punching bag.
I love how Thorton went after desi and made him drop the gloves you could tell he really wanted to go with his old team for there last go around. He actually gave desi a free shot and got hit flush and laughed it off. Man I can't wait til Desi is off the roster. He should have went right after Petrovic after the hit on Kero. He came on the ice right after it and did nothing.
I really like Hayden's game he's a tad slow but he finishes his checks surprised Thorton or a panther didn't go after him he was running around a lot. We should have played Tootoo he knows the role of enforcer someone should of tried to jump start the hawks at the end of the second after kane had his scrum to send his message. I know the game has changed for the worst but you still have to backup your teammates. Hopefully Schmaltz gets a ass chewing for just staring at panic getting facewashed and glove punched by three guys.

What team has fans pay to see their team live when not only are they bad, but ownership has done little else but alienate them - when one of the reasons they are bad is petulant ownership decisions - moving players who show any sign of independence or wanting market value for their services? Not to mention no hone games on TV and othe fan-unfriendly actions.

Had ownership shown that it was trying to sell the fans a quality 21st century product, instead of 1950s garbage both on and off the ice, attendance at games would have remained at a high level.

Just my opinion, of course.

And when is the BS after the whistle macho mauling going to be taken out of the game ? The NHL refs call ticky tack penalties constantly, yet Panik had 3 guys throwing jabs and face washes on him after the while and he hadn't done a damn
thing to warrant that response.....without anything called ??? It happens every freekin game by most teams and as a fan, I think it stinks. If the goaltender is being bullied, ok fair game, but in most instances, the players are avoiding the goalies. I'd like to see roughing or unsportsmanlike penalties called on those idiots that continually try to play tough guys after the whistle. Play the game whistle to whistle tough guys !!

I agree that the Blackhawks are trending the same direction as the Wild, but I think the reasons for each are different. For the Wild, I think it is a combination of them coming back down to earth after playing really well most of the year and some growing pangs associated with integrating their trade deadline acquisitions. For the Blackhawks, I think they have a bad habit of letting up and getting sloppy once they've done something good. In this case, they put a lot of distance between themselves and the Wild and are looking really likely to get the top seed in the West. The playoffs are coming up and maybe their are holding back on their effort. A similar thing happens sometimes when they score first, especially if it is the PAK line, they think they're going to win and they let up. It isn't a good trend but I think they can come back from it. Not a great schedule to end the year but they should get at least half of the points; hopefully 2/3. As long as they are healthy for the playoffs I'll be happy.

We operate in real time although big money and greed has pillaged the founding joyfulness we - i believe most of us- would prefer.

I mean this: games are being played now in the homestretch to determine whom is in, whom out and the scheduling leaves poorly played, tired, half effort on the ice and fans are getting ripped off.

I recall what Pully said probabky over two decades ago and it still holds true, about players show up to play hard roughly only 75% of the time (i converted the mathematical equation to fit gp nowadays).

Last night was a game that happens to most teams by season's end. Players want to be healthy for playoffs after all. But Olympics, all star break, or the World Tournament last fall pushes teams to play games in a cramped fashion especially late season.

Let's use Minny Wild as an example. Free falling and playing games what is it, three of last four days. But you can check each team and see how Bettman has allowed owners to foster this scraping away of a beautuful game. I am sure that they could have benefitted from rest and maybe their effort and results in final few games gives them a different result insofar as their first round opponent.

Thanks Comish Bettman. Somebody do a beavus and b**thead of the commish and owners

Well last night's game sucked put that one in the rear view mirror and move on. I wonder with juniors and college seasons coming close to the end I wonder if the hawks have any interest some free agents besides their own.

Only good thing about last night's game was that Panarin didn't score.
