This may perhaps be true, but I'm not going to take the time to look for all the relevant stats.
I will maintain that the bottom 6 of both squads are still pretty damn equal all things considered. However if someone chooses to post stats showing otherwise then I will concede the point.

So much potential in this fist, but ultimately by leaving Oilhorse out it fizzles before it even begins to sizzle.

Factoring in offensively ideal line-ups (based of points in each players' sample size with each team pro-rated to 73 games), these are the sorts of totals both line-up would be looking at:

Maroon- McDavid- Draisaitl (191 points)
Lucic- Nugent-Hopkins- Eberle (118 points)
Slepyshev- Desharnais- Pitlick (78 points)
Poo/Caggs- Letestu- Kassian (69/71 points)

Team 5-on-5 possession stats: 53.6 GF%, 49.8 CF%, 50.6 FF%, 7.99 Sh%

Tkachuck- Backlund- Frolik (140 points)
Gaudreau- Monahan- Ferland (133 points)
Versteeg- Bennett- Brouwer (81 points)
Bouma- Stajan- Chiasson (53 points)

Team 5-on-5 possession stats: 50.6 GF%, 50.7 CF%, 50.5 FF%, 7.61 Sh%

Unfortunately no matter how I handle this topic, there's a lot of grey area that stats either can't cover (expectation for injury) or that I don't feel inclined to spend time covering (expected stats based on career averages for shooting % and whatnot) so I'm operating based off what they're currently doing.

Based on this, Calgary wins the middle-6 battle while Edmonton dominates the 1st and 4th line battle. The Flames are shooting a touch below average (which is around 8%) and Edmonton is shooting pretty much exactly at average. Both are middling teams as far as possession so neither team really gets a systems advantage.

I would have looked at that and said that Edm has a stronger top line. The 3rd is basically equal while they have a slightly better 2nd while Edm has a slightly better 4th.

Unsurprising result as far as what we know about this team. It's the Canucks game but on the second half of a back-to-back where we're not getting the bounces.
