Random question

Stanley cup final game 7 and your losing 3-2.

Do you want a 2 min powerplay with 2 mins left or a penalty shot with one second left

If we were using our current team, I'd definitely want the power play considering how good ours is and how terrible we are in the shootout.

is that a thing?

i woulda thought the ad companies would see the traffic and invest.. but it would be a bad investment if the Leafs arent in the lottery...

- Arctic_AARDVARK

totally depends on the host. certainly ads should offset any potential costs even with the worst host but my joke wasn't meant to be broken down like this

i dont think so tim...

So many players dont pan out how you think they will.. I dont think you'll see any of those guys in the NHL next year... Maybe Hirch and Patrick....

- Arctic_AARDVARK

I've seen enough of Tippett to be sold on him, Vilardi is the one I worry about. Not the best skater, and Im really not sold on Liljegren.

Not even considering how Richardpoop we are at shoot outs. 2 mins of 5 on 4 all day. We'd get at least 2-3 chances...at least I'd hope so

Definitely. Every time. Yank the goalie and it's a 6-4 for two minutes.

with any other team you'd pick a penalty shot for sure. leafs suck at that though.

basically we're looking at 30%+ chance of winning with a shootout vs at best 20-25% and the chance of the other team scoring shorthanded

I like Martin, but is there a softer big dude in the league than Boyle?

Yeah. This too. You'd hopefully have several chances.

Agreed. I know the percentages are in favour of the penalty shot but I feel like in the final mins of the game the PP is the way to go

No.

Always pick PP.

The Boy asked me the other day whilst I beat the living (frank) out of him at NHL 17, which would I rather. I picked the PP and I explained that I'd rather multiple chances, vs 1

best pp in the league is like 23%

thats worse than the worst shootout scoring % in the league i bet and you can't get scored against during a penalty shot. every coach would take the penalty shot i think.

nope.

LEafs have a 23.8% pp percentage.
Normally, scoring chance on a penalty shot is over 30%.

So you have to take the penalty shot opportunity (conditional on being able to pick the shooter).

that will be challenged by NJ, goalie interference
