Yep but not in the NHL as I recall or for any length of time
- John Jaeckel

That's what I thought, I don't remember seeing that in his history at other levels.

Hartman played with Panarin and Kane for at least the third period of the Vancouver game and played well and Q complemented him after. I wasn't expecting this to happen right away. I don't know how Hartman did on draws but I do know he was working on them in practice today.

Also Hartman said the other night the last time he played center was in the OHL.

What advantage does Q believe is necessary in playing Campbell at LD instead of Kempny. That right NOW Campbell is better?

Tonight's game should not turn on Campbell playing over Kempny. Kempny gains experience and confidence by playing. A team needs eight dmen deep and each relatively fresh - not missing much game action as a press box observer. The playoffs is a marathon.

We all know that Q is a good coach but this does not mean he makes some bone head decisions along the way. Kempny ought to tell management that he needs to play more, else he might not want to return next season.

Kempny's Chicago future upside = core piece defenseman
I would advise him to do nothing Stahlberg-like.

Hartman on taking faceoffs: "I’ve taken a lot of draws based on center men maybe [having] an injured wrist, so I feel comfortable."

When did he play center? I always thought he was RW his whole career.

I second this opinion. Hopefully Crow is mentally engaged in this game and backstops his 30th W on the campaign!

In a very limited capacity this season he's been 40.5%. Maybe with some experience he can improve.

Saw video Powers posted of Hartman working against Rasmusen (a 43% guy) in practice. Hartman went 2-8. Losing cleanly on those 8.

Small sample size and he has time to improve I suppose. But . . . oy.

Honestly, what's the worst that happens? He struggles to win faceoffs for one game? Hawks Centers have been struggling there a bit, so it's all good.

I like Kempny as well, but I don't think your suggested approach (basically, play me or I'm gone) would sit well with the Hawks. Hopefully, Kempny understands that next year, there will be openings for him with both Oduya and TVR likely gone. A bigger problem might be that since he will be 27 before the next season starts, he might be impatient for a big payday, which the Hawks can't afford.

Well, not that that is a good thing, but you're correct in that other than Toews the Hawks are going to lose most of the other faceoffs anyway.

But, when Hartman makes Rasmussen look like Vermette, that is alarming.

Haha. That's true. But, you never know.

Q can have his blender going and switch Hartman back to Wing.

I'm eager to see how he does as a Center.

Tonight should be a game that they jump on the questionable defense and goaltending of Dallas (I hope).

How about a Hayden vs Benn scrap??

Just not at center, demoted to the third line.
- walleyeb1

I'm not sure playing with Hossa is much of a demotion.

I for one would like to see them keep Oduya and let Soupy ride off into the sunset. Yuge Kempny fan and hate seeing him sit as well, bigly. I don't like it and he needs the experience/TOI. I don't see Kempny getting a big payday however and likely a 2 year bridge deal.
