As does Schenn. It doesn't really matter, in the grand scheme of things, how goals get scored. As long as they get scored I don't really care. The problem is, when the PP completely dries up (as it does sometimes), those two don't really make a difference at even strength.

In that respect Schenn is way more frustrating than Simmonds.

Paul Holmgren's Flyers were the Burke era I was referring to although he was a much better version of Brian Burke.

Well, not all of NJ.

Just enough of New Jersey so I can get to the beach from the old Marlton circle in under 5 minutes.

I dont understand why people dont like that move. I wanna hear one person give me a valid negative to that trade.

It's not a bad trade; it's a good trade in terms of value. I just want to know what the actual point of it was from Hextall's perspective. There's a distinction. This is going to be another bubble team next year. Maybe they get in (they could and another quality center helps); maybe they don't. Metro is so tight and will be next year too probably. But we're still a good ways away from really competing, and that's if the brain trust corrects their mistakes.

Say Flip was acquired to be a stopgap if we trade someone, like Schenn or Simmonds, for young talent in the form of prospects/picks.....that makes sense. Say Flip was acquired to be sold high at next deadline and at much more than we got him for....that makes sense. But I don't think anyone else is traded, and I don't think he will be traded if they're again fighting for a wild card. So, what is the real point of this trade? No one can argue it wasn't a good trade in value, but what is his value to the Flyers? The trade makes them better. No doubt. 3C has been a hole. But it's a 1 year contract to make them a better bubble team. It's just another instance in this team trying to have its cake and eat it too with winning now and winning later, and I wish they'd make up their mind.

To stop playing Schenn at center.

Someone pointed out that Schenn and Simmonds have similar ES stats. I guess that doesn't surprise me. I've never been much of a Brayden Schenn fan, though. That's probably irrational. Or maybe because he came in with more expectations?

That isn't at all what I meant if you bothered to read on. I never disputed making the trade.

I may call it a dump but it's not bad enough that I want it sunk under the ocean.

I'm not sure I want that hour commute to work even though I currently live an hour away from work.

It is really just a matter of opinion on A) how good you think Filppula is and B) how good you think the guy lose in the expansion draft is

Filp is better than most of those who will be left available. I think Hextall thinks this also.

Right now I protect: G, Jake, Simmer, Schenn, Coots, Filp, Cousins, Ghost, Gudas, Manning. Stolarz.

They score at similar rates, but Simmonds makes it look cool.

It would be funny if they protect Raffl and Vegas takes Bellemare.

in the 10 games since that trade Coots has 2-7-9 plus 8. in the other 46 games 9-8-17 minus 6.

truthfully I wouldn't care if either are taken. that's not saying I don't like them, I just think they are replaceable

That isn't really what I was saying, but I should've been more clear. What I am getting at is there is a risk in using a protection slot in an expansion draft on a guy that won't be here in the near future

I've come around to the idea that it's pretty safe to leave Cousins and Laughton unprotected because Vegas can only take 10 RFAs.

I won't be really sad to see anyone that could potentially go in expansion get selected. Not enough guys have performed this season to really be all that concerned about them going elsewhere.

He's been a drag on possession since he joined the club.
- SimmerDown17

He has been a drag on possession? That has nothing to do with the team?

Whats our record like since Christmas? What about or possession metrics?

Is there a specific order Vegas has to go in, or can they make their picks from teams based on their own preference?
