Is your avatar from the skate last night? How were those 79$ cheeseburgers? - RickJames77
That's me, baby.
Best part of the whole thing was Rick Vaive was signing autographs. I told him I was his old paperboy - he obviously couldn't have cared less. But he signed my jersey!
The next guy they had for autographs was Gary Leeman, but I felt it best to avoid him, as I would have ended up asking him about Al Iafrate's wife.
Dinner afterwards was at The Fox - a pub just south of the ACC. The nachos were absolutely disgustalicious.

Polak better not get any games for that hit. If Marner stayed down injured when Werenski nailed him on the numbers would he be looking at a suspension? Nope. Not even 2 (frank)ing minutes. - markmark
I thought the Marner hit was worse that the Polak hit. On the Polak hit, he was chasing down the player from the side, the player decided to hook into the boards and Polak was committed to the hit, it was a penalty and a subjective 5 minute major.
On the Marner hit, he was going and retrieving the puck and always going towards the boards, not turning when Werenski? hit him on the numbers that were facing him from the start, that was a more dangerous play, imo.

Rick - we love you but, the over under for unpenalized crosschecks by Chara is about 400 ( 5 per game ) for the season. Give me a break. - winsix
One of the most touching moments I have ever seen in hockey was when Chris Pronger retired, and they brought him out to centre ice and he handed over his "no penalties for cross checks" card to Chara.

You have to give Polak 2 minutes, because whatever, guy got shoved into the boards head-first.
5 minutes? Hell no.
And I like that one of the broadcasters brought up a Don Cherry suggestion from a few years ago - if a guy turns in like that, you should be allowed to grab him so you don't break his neck. Time to look at that suggestion again.

I've seen Martin called for penalties at least 3 times this season on the EXACT play you describe. They do need to adopt that.
It was 7 minutes, and Columbus got one shot on goal
Nice to go into that hotbed of hockey and hoof them in the ass. - winsix
Columbus sure can't complain they weren't given a chance to tie the game.
The last 3 games is the best defensively I have seen the Leafs play since the Pat Burns era.

ahh come down, I'm just giving you all a hard time.
Curious, because I couldn't see the game last night, how did the leafs match up with CBJ's physicality? - RickJames77
It was their speed I found more surprising.
I don't think the leafs matched either their speed or physical play, but they made the most of their chances. They weren't out-classed by any means. Matthews was probably the best player on the ice.
