Panik looks like a steal, but I don't think he would be as good of a player in Toronto as he is in Chicago. Lots of great guys to learn from in Chicago, while most guys in Toronto are still learning themselves. I'm happy he's doing so well this season... I really liked him as a Leaf.

I remember seeing an interview with Panik a couple days after he was traded to the Hawks and he mentioned how great it was to be in Chicago and it was so nice the team gives the players breakfast.

That sticks out in my mind too! I think Panik wants to be in Chicago, hopefully Stan and his agent can find a way to make it work.

Don't know if he's top 6, I know he's a good hockey player. Funny get a good physical forward and in his second year he pots 20 goals. Didn't Saad do the same thing? Now I'm not saying he's Saad but....

He's 26 and broke in with Tampa in 2012/13 (25 games), then played 50 games with Tampa in 2013/14 and played the whole year with Toronto in 2015/16 (76 games) before Babcock banished him to the NHL in 2015/16. Stan rescued him and brought him to the Hawks where he played 30 games last season and all of this season.

Hawks management seems to have a template for making sure young players have appropriate mentors whether it's to develop overall hockey skills, learn Q's system, and/or acclimate language and culture wise. In addition to Hossa mentoring Panik, we also have Roszival and Kempny, Anisimov and Panarin, and Hjalmarsson and Forsling.

Success from these players helps in building a pipeline to ensure that Chicago is still a top team for players to desire despite the cap issues, i.e. young players will be surrounded by good support, resources, and breakfast.

I was willing to give Panik an extended look from the get go. But the improvement in his stick handling and creativity blows me away. Even from the beginning of this season to now he has improved markedly. In my 50 years of following the hawks I do not remember a player that went from having stone hands to pretty good hands (though still not great hands) like he has. Maybe for him it was just relaxing and gaining confidence.

Hawks played a meh game and were sloppy defensively. Played about 10 minutes out of 63. Happy they got a point.

I love that the Canucks continue to suck. At least you guys dumped Bieksa, Kesler, and Burrows. Vigneault is coaching the Rags. That's a start in the right direction. Get the giant forehead twins to retire or go back to Sweden, and then you guys might become respectable again.

Saad is a very good player. Panik is a better than expected player. I don't see his ceiling being that high, ever. But, at least his paycheque won't ever be as big either.

Panik 39 points in 73 games, although Stalberg had 40 points skating with the top line that year?

Have no choice but to carry him on the roster. My opinion? Cause I know you really want it.

Hossa will honor the contract he signed. Who cares what his cap hit will be too. Its will always be worth it because of the influence he had from the first time he stepped on the ice as a Hawk.

i don't understand why a number of people are always seemingly ready to chase Hoss away. How does anyone here really know what he's thinking about the next 4 yrs?? Isn't that what's left of his contract? Please correct me if i'm wrong.

Last night, when he scored, he huddled with Seabs and they looked pissed, like damn right we're gonna win kind of expression. At least that's what i saw. Shows me maybe the fire is still there. And he's still better than a lot of guys 10 to 15 yrs. his jr. Who exactly under contract to the Hawks replaces him??? Giant hole when he sadly does leave.

I might be mistaken, but speaking of breakfast, didn't someone oversleep early on in his Blackhawk career and have to sit a game? St. "Patrick" Panik might not be SO perfect as we all think he is....LOL!
