I said extra. Barzal was our top 1st round pick that draft, thanks to the Vanek trade. - JohnScammo

Well technically Barzal did make the team, but I see what you're saying. Yeah, I think Weight has shown the willingness to rely on rookies in some really big spots. I think Barzal would have at least played 10 or so games before a decision was made. - eichiefs9
I love Doug Weights second line....giving those kids a chance. |

Nobody "traded up" to draft him. Snow traded Reinhart for two picks, one of which was used to select Barzal. It was good that Snow was able to salvage something for Reinhart, who Snow wasted a 4th overall pick on. - JohnScammo
Snow did not draft Ho-Sang in 2015. |

Because you incorrectly said that Snow "traded up " to select Barzal..... I was explaining how we actually got him. |

Doubt it, Barzal just wasn't ready. He'll get his chance this upcoming year. - bgainesDM

His skill is there, but he lacked discipline at the time. The Caps game is a reference. Back then, no he wasn't ready regardless of the ice time. We see what Ho-Sang was able to do right out of the gate and only last game did he make a couple of blunders. Barzal did it right from the start. If I was the coach, that would stick to me. First impressions matter. You gotta have discipline in your game. |

Garth and Co. do know how to handle young talent.
I do think Weight would have given Barzal a fair shot. |

really.. two games and we know whats going on.. ho -sang has made mistakes and he went right back on the ice and that's the difference between cappy and weight. barzal was never given a fair shot.was he ready?? probably not.. but damn I would have loved to see him play top six minutes for 5 or six games. cappy did not know how to develop top six forwards |
