Pretty important 8 game stretch currently (dating back to the Hawks game) and we are 1-2-1. Not great, but not terrible either. 3 out of a possible 8 points in the span.

I don't think we played all that well last night, but good teams win games they sometimes shouldn't. Last night was certainly one of those cases. The forward group is really missing Stone, but performing ok in his absence.

With Boucher's game plan, the team will always look like they are lacking intensity and urgency overall. Boring to watch and frustrating to watch at times, but it works for this group generally.

I agree with the Dion dialogue. He has been a solid guy all year and has been paired with an underwhelming Cody Ceci. He may be a little overpaid according to the books, but he's exactly the type of guy you want in your 3/4 spot.

Big game against the Pens tomorrow and the Habs following that. Both should bring out the best in the team hopefully.

I don't know why they're haggling with this kid.....he'd likely be an instant upgrade over wingels or Kelly, and he's almost surely better than anyone we have in bingo.....so sign him and at worst he's the 13th forward.

with the recent history of NCAA players just holding out and becoming UFAs....I don't think Ottawa should be playing hardball here and risk losing him for nothing. the kid obviously knows, after watching all the trade deadline coverage, how much the sens covet him as a prospect......so IMO he holds the upper hand here. just (frank)ing sign him and get it over with.

Not sure what the rush is to sign White right now. He 20. We all remember our other highly sought after centre prospect that the Sens rushed into the lineup in Lazar right? Just because he is most likely better than Kelly, Wingles, etc, doesn't necessarily warrant rushing him into the NHL prematurely. Unless he is going to contribute to the top 6, I say just leave him. Is Chabot going to be put into the lineup as soon as his junior season is over too?

I agree getting White signed would be nice. Would suck to see it all dragged out, but don't rush the kid.

Putting him in for the experience of a playoff run and then sending him back to the ahl next year wouldn't be rushing him.....would be ideal imo.

Just don't want to sour him to the organization and have him wait out to become a ufa

Vegas picking Ryan would be a great blessing for this team.
He doesn't fit at all with the team's mold, nor is he fast enough to be successful in the NHL.

I'm sure vegas will jump all over that........

if vegas takes anyone from our team I imagine it will be dzingel or methot (assuming that phaneuf doesn't waive to be exposed).

Dzingel (and Pageau for that matter) don't need to be protected if I understand the rules properly and also go by what CapFriendly shows...They are RFA without a contract for next year so do not need to be exposed unless the Sens sign them before the eDraft...from what I understand, they could wait after the eDraft and then sign them afterwards...NHL rules say that they have until 1 day after the regular NHL draft...

It's a rush if that's what it takes to prevent another Vesey/Schultz drama...yes, it would only be in 2 years but those 2 players did it so I don't want to potentially have bad blood with quality prospects... PD & RL have a better idea of where the "tension" is with the kid and hopefully it's truly their judgment that comes into play and not Melnyk trying to save 1 contract year to save money down the line...

Lazar is one bad example, and it's not the same situation as he was younger, under 20 the following season and couldn't be sent down to the AHL, had to go back to his junior team... White is already 20, could finish the season in the NHL, depending how it goes, you give him the chance to make the team next season and if it doesn't work out, you sent him down to the AHL... (and he'd be officially under contract)
Everyone remembers the Lazar experiment cause it's fresh and they did screw up as he was younger...but remember that the Sens did the same thing with Silfverberg, Stone & Pageau (I'm sure there are more I'm not thinking of) and worked well for them...they were all older then Lazar and we're old enough to be sent down to the AHL the following season if needs be...

I haven't read all the rules regarding the expansion draft, all I know is that all the TSN and sportsnet "mock drafts" always state both players as either having to be protected or exposed so I'm assuming they will have to be.

With all the rules, it's hard to know who's right!

But even then, forwards to protect is not a problem as you protect: Hoffman, Brassard, Stone, Turris, Smith, Pageau & Dzingle...

It's at D the issue...Phaneuf (currently no choice), Karlsson, Methot or Ceci!? Even Wideman I would prefer to not lose him for nothing...
Maybe we can make a deal with Vegas...

my dream scenario is that PD convinces dion to waive and be exposed....know that vegas is unlikely to take him.......then he trades ceci prior to the draft. we protect karlsson, methot, wideman and vegas takes boro. next your our D looks like

EK-Meth
phaneuf - wideman
claessen - Chabot
