The 'Hawks flat out DOMINATED the Canucks tonight. I don't even think that the 'Nucks got a shot on net in the final 15 minutes of the third period since the 'Hawks were in their zone the entire time. The 'Hawks just played sloppy with the puck and too many turnovers led to the few scoring chances that Vancouver had - unfortunately they converted on most of them. Bad luck.
- TommyHawk

no no no. they didn't care at all until late in the third.

Forget it was their 8th game in 13 days. 4th in 6 days. Which you know could be a bit of a reason their passing was off. But hey, its easier to question the effort of a team that for the last 9 years have rarely if ever quit. Have they had off nights? You bet and more than a few. But the whole they don't give a poop narrative is a crock of poop. IMHO!!

No sure what you want Schmaltz to do. He made a great defensive play and then sutter made one right back. It happens. Hartman Panik and Hayden continue to impress. They are exactly the type of forwards this team was missing.
- bhawks2241

It was Megna that stripped Schmaltz. He will learn from it.

If Hayden can keep his spot on Toews wing, then Schmaltz can continue to play center when Anisimov comes back, regardless which one plays 2C and which one plays 3C. Then Kruger plays 4C and maybe you can put a couple speed merchants on Kruger's wings.

You want guys who can play shutdown with Kruger. Hinostroza is meh at it. And Jurco? He is meh at everything. I would rather see Moose and Tootoo than the two you have in there. JMO

Jurco needs to play 3 more games, them that's likely the last he'll see of him this season.

That game had a lot of stink on it ,glad to get the point . I agree that Hinostroza should get another look ,team was playing well when he was here , Hartman and him had some chemistry . Jurco can sit . ..GO HAWKS !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think Kero would look nice on Krugers wing.

It's turning into a pretty amazing season.
Kane & Panarin & Hammer doing their things. AA too when healthy.
Great goaltending all year.
Panik, Hartman, and Schmaltz playing above (my) expectations
Hossa being Hossa again after a down year.
The Captain and Keith getting their groove back the second half of the season.
Oduya back, defense way better than last year.
Surprising contributions from Hayden & Kero.
The rest holding their own well enough given injuries and ability.
Great coaching too.
This is a better team than I thought it'd be. Another fun year to be a Blackhawks fan.
I'm a little worried about center depth for the playoffs.
Of course, no cap space. Can't have everything.

TBF to Jurco. The last couple of games I have seen some signs of life from him to at least have a hope he can turn into a useful piece for next season.

meh. its not every game where every mistake ends up in your net. Hawks outplayed them from start to finish. It happens.

I disagree about Hinostroza's defensive play. He can't win board battles but neither can anyone else on the Hawks with the exception of a couple guys. When he showed he can do is back check and take the puck away. His quickness and front ahead speed are his assets and he uses them very well on defensive. Jurco has the speed to help keep the puck in the o-zone which is one form of playing defense.

Apologies to "little people", but trying to pick the 4th line wingers is like the tallest midget contest - it's not like there are many great choices.

The key to your statement is "next season". I'm not writing him off yet, bring him back on a very short leash next season.

Hawks had 6PPs. The Toews call was iffy at best but Hawks should have cashed in on their PP at the end and OT.

Jurco is bad at puck management right now. I am a huge fan of Hinostroza but I don't want him facing the best other teams have to offer just yet.

I disagree about not being great choices for wingers on the 4th line. I think there are plenty of options to put together a line that can play a shutdown role effectively.

Exactly. I don't think he is a better option right now going into the playoffs.

Side note...

Anyone else sick of hearing Pat Foley regurgitate the same line about the Sedin twins?

"Here's Henrik - where's Daniel."
"Henrick to Daniel - where's Henrick."
"Henrick gets it back, looking for Daniel."

He's been using those same exact lines EVERY SINGEL TIME we play them for 7-8+ years now.

- TommyHawk

Actually, no. Mocking the Sedins never gets old. You can call them the Sedin "sisters" as much as you'd like as well. That one also never gets old.

Anyone else see the cheap shot slew foot trip of Hayden near end of the game (last 4 min of regulation)? In offensive zone, far dot area. It's why I love the Canucks so. Pu**ies! (And I ain't spelling "puppies" there!)

just couldn't help our draft position hey?

Hawks couldn't even beat a 2/3rds AHL squad.

Agreed on Schmaltz to 3C. Mentioned it weeks ago FWIW, he's a natural centerman and is more comfortable there to boot. Not a Tootoo fan nor do I feel Hino should play in the playoffs especially when he hasn't even been playing in the NHL in quite some time. Hawks have plenty of depth and may not see Hino again this season.

For me, the best agitator shutdown line for the playoffs is Desi-Krugs-Kero. Jurco isn't a grinder, he's a finesse/skill guy and they don't do what you need 4th liners to do. Desi has gotten healthy and it's shown in his play as of late so go with his experience and Kero is just better as a wing than center. Fits the grinder mold well and guy can hit and battle on the boards. Let Moose in if need be and Jurco/Tootoo can hit the pressbox for playoffs.

That was pretty pathetic. Even SJ/EDM sleepwalk through 40 mins against the Canucks and still win by multiple goals.

Sad.

Queeneville scores his first NHL goal!

That is correct. His nephew, 20 year old John, 6th nhl game this season. Formerly a 30th overall pick. He toils for the NJ Devils.

and the assist on the game winner and third star for the evening. Trade for him already!

I think Jurco can have a seat as soon as he's eligible for the expansion draft
- matt_ahrens

Jurco did make a bad Off zone pinch when TVR was up the ice which lead to a 2-1 on goal. that said and all of the 1st 4 goals 2-3 people in each of them made bad plays that lead to high scoring chances and tougher potential stops but Crawford still needs to make some of those. Jurco did have 3-4 great scoring chances.

I like Hartman at Center of the 2nd line. Bottom line most people score goals around the net not doing spin o rama's 60 feet away. I think schmaltz has been good but I just don't think 3 elite passers on 1 line and nobody that will go in front of the net, Dig a puck out or Hit someone is a great line.

I know people want to park Jurco but he does bring some size, speed, and skill and puts shots on goal, Moose brings size, kuger and Kero bring responsible d play but for the most part all of them have looked AVG at best.

When AA comes back it sure looks like:
Hayden-Teows-Panik
PAN-AA-Kane
Hartman-schmaltz-Hossa

the 4th line is interesting I'm starting to wonder if Kero has moved in front of Kruger? My thought is for the playoffs No, But if Kruger has a bad game you never know.

So its Kruger-Kero-jurco-moose-tootoo-Des-Hino fighting for the 4th line. really hard to say who gets it.
