Bo, Tanev, Ericsson(Signed to a dumb contract), Tryamkin and Markstrom( Possibly demko) - SRam19
Tryamkin I keep forgetting about. I don't know how, he is a beast and has been solid. |

I have posted multiple times in our blogs that we should look to the Chicago model.
Identify your core.
Ship players who you don't identify as your core, at peak value, for best return
Horvat, Baertschi, Virtanen, Boeser, Gaudette, Demko, Juolevi, Brisebois have all been mentioned by management as core pieces moving forward. Along with Hutton.
We will see what we have in Goldobin and Dahlen (seems like a great pickup).
After that, whoever we choose in the 1st/2nd round this year I would probably say has a good chance of being lumped into the "core group".
Toews/Hossa/Kane/Panarin/Keith/Seabrook/Crawfood.
Horvat/Baertschi/Boeser/Virtanen/Juolevi/Brisebois/Demko would be my closest guess.
The sad part is, that apart from Horvat and Baertschi, none of the others are proven. - Codes1087
Unfortunately you have to include ericsson, because of his immovable contract.

They still can't be split up?
Altho who would take them at $7MM each (without salary retention)? - StLBravesFan
Even at 50% RSA, who will take a couple douche-bags? They have a decade of experience to show that when the going gets tough, they go away.
2011 SCF enough of a reminder? Up 2-0. Even up 3-2? Nope. Collapse. They know how to dive, like now ex-mate Alexis (sorry, Sens). They know how to snow a goalie, well after a whistle. One of them (can't remember which) can get female dog-punched by Brad Marchand, and not man-up in retaliation.
Do they know how to set an example on how to win? Nope. So who wants that, at that age, at that cap-hit, with zero championship pedigree? |

Thanks for sharing your thoughts (SRam19, too). I would imagine once the Sedins are gone, Horvat is a top candidate to be your next captain. Seems like a great leader in the Toews mold.
And yeah, haven't heard great things about Virtanen. I'd say trade him sooner rather than later and get some decent assets in return. |

Its a double edged sword with Virtanen. No one is sold on him. But to trade him now, he wouldn't be worth more than a late 2nd/3rd round pick at best. |

It could get worse too. Another mediocre season in the AHL then Virtanen becomes the next Mark McNeill.
Look at the Granlund/Shinkaruk deal. At first it looks really bad for the Canucks, but it may not be so bad now. |

I can just see him now....streaking up the right wing board ahead of all his teammates, and ripping a shot high, wide, around the boards and back out of the zone just as the rest of the team arrives at the blue line. |

So I'm watching the Pens and Sabres and Sid sticks a guy in the family jewels and all the announcers do is laugh. WTF |

Not to mention but of course no penalty as the guy is laying on the ice trying for air.

I've had the pleasure of visiting Vancouver on several occasions - even took in a few Hawks/Nucks games too. Vancouver is a jewel of North America. You can enjoy a great meal while watching sea planes land in the harbor - with snow-capped mountains off in the distance. The natural beauty mixed with urban aesthetic is truly remarkable.
While I enjoy some good hockey trash-talking as much as the next guy - I can confidently say that if anyone had the chance to see Vancouver first-hand - they would find no humor in the riots that took place a few years back. It was nothing short of a travesty.
(I'll step off my soapbox now - thanks) |

well just like last game...alot of nothing with sloppy paases and puck bouncing all over...but we know that can change in a hurry |

If the opposing team could just keep the Hawks on the PP for the whole game they would probably have a good chance to win or at least to pick up a point by getting it to OT with the score 0-0.
It's truly amazing how a collection of players that the Hawks have on their PP units can be so inept. |

Ryan Miller may not be the RM of old - but he's a lot better than the Jeremy Smith of today (or Sunday, actually). |

Vancouver Hawks was a huge rivalry
It now feels like a 2011 game versus Columbus
