I just opened an email from a old friend whose says that the big Notre Dame senior Goaltender Cal Peterson might sign wuth the Blackhawks and not the team that drafted him, Buffalo...Maybe it's bull feathers, but I recall he played for skated for the Chicago Young Americans U18 team/Midwest Elite Hockey League.

Stay tuned.

...and praise if correct, but don't bury me if it BS...

he was .927 as a Soph and .928 as JR, but if he was going to sign with hawks wouldn't it be in AUG of 2018?

SBN does at top 100 NCAA hockey players every year. last year he was 51 so my guess is he is higher then that this year. right now they are thru #36 and I'm not sure if I saw him

they are doing it this year as well. So far I say #41Gilbert, #54Snuggy, #42Hayden were the highest I saw for the hawks.

Talent Analysis

Petersen is a quick, athletic goalie who models his game after Tuukka Rask. He does not get scored on often down low because of his quick feet. He control’s rebounds well and catches with his right hand, which poses a challenge to shooters. His focus and stamina are both very good, which helps him cope with the physical and mental pressures of being an everyday starter.

Future

Petersen has been a workhorse for the University of Notre Dame in his sophomore season — playing in all 34 regular season games for the Fighting Irish. Notre Dame is one of the top teams in the nation in 2015-16 and Petersen has been a big part of that success. Selected in the fifth-round in 2013, Petersen's play at Notre Dame suggests there is significant upside.

Gotta say I think the worst part of last night's game may have been getting burned on that 2 on 1 by a slick pass from.......... Jack Skille

Holy franking frank. Forget Jurco's lack of awareness the D man was pinching, we got burned by SKILLE !!!!!!!! I don't remember ever seeing him make a play like that in a Hawks sweater. Damn

All 4 Canuck goals followed rather egregious decision making and TO's.

...so tighten it up.

- ArlingtonRob

In 42 minutes, the Blackhawks gave up ten (10) shots against. I'm not understanding how much tighter they could have been. Would 8 shots against be too many? 5?

The issue is the all-world goalie managed to stop only 6 of 10.

CC looked a twitch slow last night. The whole team looked a little off. Having a hard time hitting passes in the first period. All that and right there in the race for the presidents trophy.

Despite not being in the playoffs, it's nice to know we still own the Hawks.

I noticed it in OT. Panik tries but in OT it was Kane-Pan-Teows-keith. Somebody needs to tell Teows were to park because nobody else is going to. in 4-5 Panik does it.

Hayden is already light years more effective than Jurco who has now gone almost 40 games without a goal. I'd rather see Vinny in the lineup. At least 4 TOs from Jurco in the neutral zone. Oh well, fun 3rd period and a point. Still, outshot then by 30 so you'd like to see 2 points but Miller player like it was 2007 and not 2017.
- EnzoD

I am with you regarding Vinny - sad to see him sent down. Not sure if the Jurco signing/playing has anything to do with expansion draft. Hopefully we'll get Vinny back for the playoffs.

That was pretty pathetic. Even SJ/EDM sleepwalk through 40 mins against the Canucks and still win by multiple goals.

Sad.

In the OT I would have liked to see Hartman and Hossa on the ice since they seemed to have the most jump all night. Panarin, Kane and Keith seemed to have an off night and yet they were on for the entire lackluster 4 on 3 pp.

IMO, I called it a team loss:
Coaching: Q should have pulled Crow after the second goal. He wasn't engaged, and it would've signaled the team to wake up. Also should've put Hartman and Hossa out on the PP in OT. They were on fire, and the others were tanked, even after TO.
Goalie: Crow wasn't engaged/challenged enough to get into the game
Blue line forward: Multiple PP's, had their chances.

I'll take the point and move on.

So its Kruger-Kero-jurco-moose-tootoo-Des-Hino fighting for the 4th line. really hard to say who gets it.

- kmw4631

Last year and the beginning of this year, we were all worried about depth. Now, I know this is the fourth line, but look at all the choices. I'm assuming Hayden may get moved down or out for the playoffs, just because of experience, but Panik has solidified as a top 6 piece (for this year, at least). Hartman is a more talented Shaw and Q's Swiss army knife. Kero has impressed. So has Hino at times. You have a choice of speed, grit, size, experience. these are all good things and much credit to the organization for keeping the right players and trading for depth. Remember we haven't even seen Latta, who some people assumed would be up by now and has experience.

One of the things the hawks do that I've noticed is let guys hang out in front of the net.

Most teams around the league have their Defensemen give those guys a beating, but the Hawks have seemed to always let guys get away with posting up in front of CC or Darling.

I'm actually surprised that Darling didn't give Sedin a little shot or two to try and clear him out himself.

Totally agree! They were ready to go. I'd argue that unit needed to charge the net more, but we saw what happened to 19. Hartman had those "greasy" goals that Q loves.

Latta is a 4th line checker/fighter and was a steady presence on the Caps 4th line a couple years back, IIRC. I doubt we see him after Tootoo's on+ off-ice contributions to the team. I've been very pleasantly surprised with Tootoo's effectiveness on the ice. Still a good skater, makes simple and smart plays with the puck, lays the body and drops the mitts. I still have Nightmares about Brandon Mashinter trying to keep up with the NHL pace last season....

That's the last time Darling lets someone stand in his way like that.
