How many game should Crosby get for his blatant shot to O'reilly's pills? - sskkoo1
Less than Lucic did for doing worse two separate times, nothing but a fine. How many should Kane get for knocking out two of Crosby's teeth? It's the same thing - should've been a penalty but no way a suspension. The two aren't remotely comparable.

It's not even close to the same thing. Kane was making a play, Crosby was malicious intent. Risto was in the process of finishing his check. He got a game, it will be nothing more.

I think its time for you to return to Garth's fantasy world

If you don't think Risto will be suspended, you're delusional. Crosby's was absolutely intentional, but nothing worse than a hard slash across the hands or a cross check in the back. Risto wasn't in the process of finishing a check, he leveled a player that never touched the puck and the puck wasn't in with 5 feet of him.
Plus, O'Reilly kept playing and Guntz is hurt and didn't return. If you don't think the inept DPOS takes injuries into consideration, you really are delusional.

He had his check lined up, it's not his fault the puck was deflected. Thank your own player for the buddy pass. Risto will get no more than the game, he's not a dirty player.

So by your logic, if a pass is coming in the direction of a player, whether it gets to him or is stopped 10 ft away, the player who may get the puck is open to be hit? That's your understanding of the rules? The player doing the hitting has no responsibility?
And you keep saying Risto got kicked out of the game, which covers the bad hit. Guntz missed the entire game too. Not that it matters for the Sabres in the slightest, but Risto will be suspended, no question about it.

I never said Risto has no responsibility on the play. He got thrown out and a game. I'm just saying to the guy who thinks he should get 10 games to keep dreaming.

Well that's not really what you said... But I'm done, it's pointless to argue with you. I said he'd likely get 3 games, you said he'd get nothing and that he was just "following through" on his hit. I guess we'll wait and see. Again it makes no difference to the Sabres, it probably will help them get a better draft pick if he's suspended.

As you can clearly see Girgensons intercepts the puck right before it gets to Guentzel. Ristolainen is already in the act of hitting him, what is he supposed to do? If that puck isn't tipped and Ristolainen doesn't hit him, he skates right by on a breakaway. His elbow is in, he doesn't launch. - Wetbandit1
Your on the hooch if you truly believe what you just wrote! There was every opportunity to not hit & Rissoles made every effort to hit Guenzty!! EVERY EFFORT! There was even elbow in the hit - watch it he has his arm down but his elbow makes contact with the head - & guess what? Draws blood!!
If anybody did that to Eichel you would be all over it like a fast spreading rash that expands in oxygen!

I doubt many hockey players gonna view that as a dirty hit. Looks like a bit late but otherwise legit hit to me. No intend to hurt - and the reaction on the ice from all the other players clearly shows that...
Sportspeople will defend their sport, no matter what sport that is. You won't get players criticising the hit publicly & I agree with that.
Now if you ask whether they would like that to happen to a team mate & if the player could have pulled out of the hit, I wonder what they would say?
If Eichel had been hit by Sestito like that, what do you think would happen? If Tanger had hit Eichel like that? - Aussiepenguin
I hear you, but it's not easy to break up that play for Risto. And honestly that pass from Crosby put that player in danger. I played the game for many years and for me it's not a dirty hit...

Fair enough! I see it differently, I've played a contact sport but not ice hockey so if players don't think it's dirty then that's ok.
Do you think it could have been avoided? Do you think your fan base would be ok with the hit if it was on 1 of your players - your top line players?
If players get a free pass to concuss another player (yes he got the game which means the zebs thought it was dirty), then look out the playoffs are around the corner........

For me the reaction from the players on the ice says a lot really.
Yes, it could've been avoided... And NO, we would not have been ok with it
I really don't see this as a headshot, but I want the league to punish dirty players waaay harder than today!
Problem with games like this is, the Pens will be playing hard for the Division, and teams like the Sabres will have nothing to lose by playing some dirty hockey and taking their two pounds of flesh before hitting the links.
Got the Flyers coming up this weekend who may be eliminated by the time the arrive and then Carolina and NJ before it's over.
