No, it was less than what Kronwall used to do all the time. He did the backwards skating thing and Guentzel(sp) was too busy looking at his feet to see the massive Ristolainen right in front of him. He didn't launch like Kronwall used to do, he just kind of stood there. Guentzel didn't have the puck, but I don't know what Ristolainen is supposed to do there. - Wetbandit1
If he doesn't have the puck he's supposed to not hit him. Isn't that kinda obvious?
How about that rat (frank) Crosby spearing ROR from behind? That's totally fine though right? - Wetbandit1
Crosby is good though, some even say he is the best. Also people think he is gay, maybe ROR is gay too idk. I don't profess to know hockey players' love lives.
Hmmm I'll have to check for a video of it later tonight. - Zac_O
As you can clearly see Girgensons intercepts the puck right before it gets to Guentzel. Ristolainen is already in the act of hitting him, what is he supposed to do? If that puck isn't tipped and Ristolainen doesn't hit him, he skates right by on a breakaway. His elbow is in, he doesn't launch.
Your post wasn't worth an entire read. The hit was brutal because he didn't have the puck. Talking about not launching doesn't matter because you don't have to launch at an unexpecting player. The puck was going the other way.

Two problems with your statement... Guez was not at full speed, not even close... if you believe your Dman can't stop a puck carrier regardless in that situation, he shouldn't be on the ice.
Second issue, its a headshot, puck or no puck that will be called.
Don't get how you defend a headshot, I'd simply be mocking that piss poor 5 minute powerplay instead.

But he wasnt even looking to see if he had the puck. He saw the puck was being moved roughly that direction and took his eye off the puck himself to lay a huge hit. That's negligence. Gotta make sure you're making a clean hit by KNOWING where the puck is. Not guessing.

Not a head shot. Elbow was in, didn't launch up into him. How is he supposed to help the Guentzel is apparently a midget? Do you need glasses? The video is slow motion. The play happened a lot faster than that. Easy to second guess after the fact. The only reason he got the game is because Guentzel was bleeding.

Exactly. If guys were getting leveled every time a pass gets picked off there's be a lot paralyzed players.
Watch the (frank)ing video. Jesus Christ. - Wetbandit1
Just saw the hit. Could have been much worse. The tip of the pass it what throws everything off. Jake woulda had the pass and been head up if it wasn't slowed. Still, Risto had time to hold up. Which he may have. He's a big dude. Hope it's not too serious but that looked bad.

Sorry man, I dont think there is any way to defend it. Risto was lined up ready to unload before the play fully developed
Thats on him, I dont know who sets up to hit like that, but he did not do himself any favours to come in like that, he could have bailed out
I'm not defending a guy about to get suspended... Take the Sabre glasses off. I've seen Cooke, Orpik, Armstrong throw some dirty hits. Sometimes you just got to take your punishment and admit you're wrong.
