After last nights win, the Leafs have SERIOUS options to make the playoffs.

How serious would you say on a scale of "how viewers take EK's predictions" to "Radulov signing with a team that may be Montreal, but could also be any other team in the league"?

Don't worry, Ek - I'm confident the Leafs will find a way to frank it up.

It's what we do.

He really really really wants to stay in Montreal, but he does have other options, serious options. Sirius satellite options.

Bringing in Shanahan and the guys that followed was such a key turning point. There was a difference and I think Babcock was right to say pain was coming. What came before wasn't pain. It was apathy.

Fans weren't dealing with pain, they were struggling to just care anymore. Because the franchise didn't seem to have a clue how to get to a good team. Watching the team lose through tanking can hurt, struggling with a team that is getting better but not quite there can hurt, but that is better than a team that seems utterly hopeless.

Now there is hope and direction. No matter how things play out, the team has a much brighter future. Frankly I'm happy to put Tank Nation into the garage and leave it for decades.

Pittsburgh currently has 9 OT losses. You have them projected for 8.

This PHD Wife predictor has been broken since day 1. It is full of super obvious errors and predictions that make no sense. The criteria used is subjective so even if it worked properly and the math was done correctly it would still be a fairly useless tool for predicting outcomes.

And he keeps posting it anyways. It's click bait - plain and simple. We get to laugh at their incompetence and they make money because we clicked and commented on this BS.

Everyone wins. Except for the Penguins when the NHL takes away points they have already banked. I guess that's not really winning.

I realize Buffalo is garbage but I doubt they will get 0 points in their final 9 games. Not even Garth's Sabres could suck that badly.

at one point the Sabres had a 92 game schedule an finished with less points than they already have.

I think that pretty much sums up how seriously this can be taken.

All jokes aside, I think the Leafs could be the team the dethrones the 1st seed. They're not nearly as good or deep as the Caps, but they're so explosive offensively that they could goad the Caps into a north/south game. The Caps play such a responsible game on both ends of the ice that opening it up too much could bite them in the butt.

The Leafs defense isn't good enough to challenge the Caps. Leafs are on their way but are not there yet.

No, I know they're not nearly as good in any aspect of the game as the Caps. Worse teams have upset better teams.

I think back to when SJ unseeded the Wings way back when.

I'm not even looking at this from an "anything is possible" perspective, but that the Leafs are specifically a team that could upset the Caps because of their style of play. The Caps need to be the smarter team against a team like the Leafs, not the better team.

I recall it all to well. It was 1994 and Jamie Baker scores the game 7 winner on a rookie goalie named Chris Osgood. There is a certain parallel between the current Caps team and the 90s Red Wings. The Wings had lost to the Leafs in 93, Sharks in 94, Devils in 95 and Avs in 96. 62-13-7-131 points that season. Then they finally beat Philly in 97 and the Caps in 98. Could've won more Cups had Konstantinov not had his career taken from him in the limo accident.

Anyway, Stevie Y was being criticized alot for not being able to lead his team to a Cup win much like Ovechkin is now. It's funny thinking back to those times because now Stevie Y is regarded as one of the best captains of all time.

I see your point though. A potential first round Leafs --Caps playoff series would be interesting. The Leafs would have no pressure on them but be playing loose as the media would give them zero chance of winning. I recall in 1991 when the underdog North Stars eliminated the heavily favoured Blackhawks in the first round and then played the Pens in the Cup Final. They lost in 5 but no one saw them getting that far.

I guess in the right matchup in the right circumstances with some luck... Anything can happen.

They have holes in the roster, but they still have no problem handing the Leafs their ass most times they play them.

The thing with the leafs this year is they are bi-polar team.

They can look unbelievable and like complete poop all in 1 game.

When they are up 3 or 4 goals you fee like they could still lose.

When they are down 3 or 4 goals you think they can still come back because their offence can be so good at times. It's a roller coaster every game but atleast it's entertaining.

Why does he keep ramming the Islanders down our throats? He thinks they are gonna go on this crazy run the last 11 games and get 16 points out of them???
