You can't compare regular season an playoffs, it's a completely different animal. I know it's a long time ago but the Rangers and devils went 7 games in 94, rangers were 6-0 vs them in the reg season.

And that same playoffs they swept (kicked the shat out of more like it) the Islanders who won 3 out of 5 with us that regular season & was always the team giving us the most fits. Playoffs is a crap shoot, a lot of times, hot goaltender & committed team mentality team wins over talent, MOST times.
