He is Canucks best face off guy and best PK guy , that adds TOI. Just because he is on the PP doesn't mean he is getting the puck.

He is a veteran player that will add leadership and stability to this team as they transition out of the Sedin years.

I don't get the hate from Nucker and Lefty when he does everything the team asks and still puts up decent numbers.

- VANTEL

I just bust his balls because he's one of the main reasons the Canucks are terrible 5 on 5 and give up 200 goals a year.

It's the decent numbers part without qualifying how much opportunity he gets.

I don't blame players for how a coach uses them, so it's not on Sutter but WD from day 1 has been using him as a trigger man and scorer rather than a shutdown guy, which is what he has been most his career. Scores some good goals with his speed and can hold his own with most the league.

It's funny that both Sutter and Staal were stuck behind two centres in Crosby and Malkin, yet that's the case whichever team they go to.
- Scooby_Doo

Not exactly true.

Sutter played a good part with the Sedins. WD has a thing about handing top line minutes to the twins even if they are not the best

Yes he was . He took RH face offs and did the deep man back in the defensive zones.

There's tons upon tons of data on Canucks Army on this, here's a quote:

"And before you go blaming this on age related decline, consider that Brandon Sutter is the Canucks’ single worst player by even-strength shot-attempt metrics currently on the roster, and that’s including the over 170 minutes he’s played with Henrik and Daniel at 5-on-5."

No, he played behind Henrik and Brendan Morrison. Actually so did Linden late in his career.

Henrik
Morrison
Linden/Kesler

In those years Kesler scores 10 and 6 goals

The whole roster is terrible 5v5 though. We have 3 players not including Dorsett who have been able tread water 5v5.

Gaunce, Eriksson and Granlund.

Our "revamped" defense is mostly to blame IMO for goals against issues. There is a lot of work still to be done there. Thankfully many of that group is still learning.

They're just reporting the data, it's not their personal opinion, the numbers say he's not very good despite his 29 points.

We can move on, we've been down this road before. I respect your opinion, I just don't share it.

No I like Sutter fine as a 3C, especially for a team trying to stay competitive. I think he was an upgrade on Bonino for what we needed, which was speed and FO's.

It would of been a great 1 for 1 trade....

- belcherbd

It was anaheims second for vancouvers third that we lost for i think pedan. Not a huge gap for the picks, the other piece was a dman that has been on waivers twice since, i forget his name, so it wasnt to much of an overpayment, but 1 for 1 would of been sweet

I like JPat, and some of the CA guys. It sucks but the negative outlook has been much more realistic than the positives.

Botch is pure garbage.

LE and BB need a puck moving center. Sutter has value but he doesn't distribute the puck very well. He would neutralize LE and BB.

ya but Sutter is one of the best 3c's in the game as his point production on a full season is to top of what you expect from a 3c. I am glad we have him to insulate kids by taking tougher defensive match-ups. a full season with LE and BB could help with production. BB could still be a bust, but i like to think he will be good for 15+g and 35+pts next season playing with those two.

Sutter should play with the Sedins again, on a 3rd line. I know this is crazy but Gaunce or Chaput should center LE and BB
