Also on S%.

Almost every single Canuck forward this season saw their shooting % rise from last year.

Only Daniel ( - 4%) and Eriksson ( -5%) and Hansen (-8%) dropped.

Horvat (+3.5) Granlund (+5), Henrik ( +4), Sutter (+.5), Baertschi (+2.5), Burrows (+2).

For the most part this team has been lucky....

You (frank)ing goof...I'm extremely critical of this team and think all of our vets are close to useless. I just don't b!tch and moan like some about how the organization owes me something. You are a (frank)ing train driver in Ontario for (frank)sakes.

- CanuckDon

You started being critical a few weeks ago, once you saw the playoffs were a lost cause. Anyone who suggested that beforehand was an idiot.

The organization owes me nothing, but I was a season's ticket holder until I moved.

Also, you're wrong again. I don't live in Ontario.

Tell me what top 4 D prospects they have?
- Nighthawk

I'm sure you can use google if you really want to find out, plus, they've got a core of young guys getting better. Rielly is 23 and improving, Gardiner has vastly improved his decision making, Zaitsev is only 24.

They have the ability to sign a college free agent like the Nucks did with Stecher or sign a UFA, they can certainly get better in the next couple of years just like we did.

In the past two years they've drafted seven defensemen by the way.

I already tried, you can't.

Don't know where I heard it but apparently Tryamkin was Mrs. Aquamans pick.

I'm trying to figure out who drafted Boeser and Demko. I guess we'll never know for sure, it's impossible.

I think with shooting percentage luck has to be taken into consideration. If Granlund had 7 goals at 5.5% I would still feel good about his chances to break through the following season.

Mike Kelly from the NHL network tracks shots from the slot, which I am unable to find running totals of, but I think that is a more telling statistic and would be interested to see the individual results of the Canuck players

- WhiteLie

Ya there is some really good heat map graphs as well out there that show where players/teams are shooting the puck.

I agree that it is based upon luck. Granlund is one of our feel good stories and Eriksson the biggest disappointment. Sometimes its good to remember how powerful a coin flip can be.

Obviously Eriksson has a much larger sample size for us to see his shooting % but even with Granlunds smaller sample, we shouldn't be expecting him to be shooting 15.5%

I'll give Benning the benefit of the doubt in regards to Virtanen as the pick screams ownership interference as it seems like a PR move to boost season ticket sales and he was just hired. That being said, perhaps it was all Benning. Nobody knows for sure. I won't give Benning a pass on Juolevi. If he doesn't pan out within a couple years Benning should be fired. Juolevi was a gamble and it needs to pay off. I supported the pick as we need a smooth puck moving defensemen but we passed up a safe, physical top 6 forward so it was certainly risky.

Hockey Writers pooping all over Benning in an article on the Sabres

"Unlike the Vancouver Canucks’ general manager, Jim Benning, Murray has a knack for evaluating players and as a result, he makes good picks at the draft. However, with all this offensive talent, the Sabres have become vulnerable on the back end and they know it. Actually, they expected it. Although they’re experiencing positive point production progress from defensemen like Rasmus Ristolainen and Jake McCabe, the rest seem to be lost causes."

Granlund has a nice shot with a deceptive release so I suspect he will have a higher than average shooting % in the future as well. But an interesting exercise. Loi certainly hit a sh!t load of posts though

That's a pile of BS. At least 75% of the guys here wanted JV.

Just because Gallagher tweets something last year based on a hunch he has means sweet (frank) all.

If you don't know who picked JV, then you don't know who picked anyone.

You have your opinion and I have mine. who franking cares champ

also, do you struggle with English or reading comprehension or both? I said give him the "benefit of the doubt." I didn't absolve Benning of blame or hint it was all on ownership.

I agree he has the nice shot and gets in good area's that said his avg 10.5% sounds about right.

He looks like a legit 2/3rd line tweener IMO.
