He sucks...he has put up a few points playing with star players. In a couple years that will be one of the worst contracts ever

And then it will be bought out

Brouwer

Just think for an extra 2 mill over 2 more years we could have had 3 more points

Once the new cba comes there will be outs for any contract

LE's contract is up the same year as the CBA

Moral of the story? Avoid these guys, they are all brutal signings. That being said, I don't hate the Erickson signing as we have a lot of cap space and he replaces the Sedins in a year as a veteran top 6. He was also brutally unlucky this year
- CanuckDon

Eriksson has been disappointing but it will turn around. It was a bad contract and move because of where this team is at not necessarily because of what he's accomplished as a player.

UFA's are always overpriced and it's the price you have to pay to get them but only a moron would of expected Eriksson to be a perennial 30 G 65 pt player.

Man just look at least year's big UFA signings:

David Backes, 32 Years Old, 5 Years/30M = 34 Points in 63 Games

Kyle Okposo, 28 Years Old, 7 Years/42M = 43 Points in 63 Games

Troy Brouwer, 31 Years Old, 4 Years/18M = 21 Points in 64 Games

Frans Nielsen, 32 Years Old, 6 Years/31.5M = 31 Points in 67 Games

Milan Lucic, 28 Years Old, 7 years/42M = 41 Points in 71 Games

Andrew Ladd 31 Years Old, 7 Years/38.5M = 27 Points in 67 Games

Mikkel Boedker, 27 Years Old, 4 Years/16M = 22 Points in 70 Games

Loui Eriksson 31 Years Old, 6 Years/36M = 24 Points in 65 Games

Seems so much wiser to just avoid the guys wanting long term and big bucks, stick to shorter term deals and try to find value.

We are a building team don't sign anyone over 26.

I'm serious, Brouwer was the only smart contract out of the bunch.

Although I can understand teams gambling on Okposo, personally I though it was insane considering his retina injury.

I agree completely. He will turn it around but probably an unnecessary signing

Nothing wrong with players over 26 if they are not on long term contracts.

There are always a bunch of bargain bin players who still good NHL players.

His last few years are bound to be ugly but that's the reality of all UFA signings of 30 year olds, that's the price you pay to have some competitive seasons out of them.

Some people just don't get it

Brouwer hasn't been that good this year ...I'm hopeful he proves his value come playoffs ....but I think it's more that all the rest of those contracts look bad

I don't mind the KO one as I think he was the best player in that bunch ...isles missing him this year

I like Brouwer, he isn't flashy and was never going to put up much in the way of points but he is willing to play tough hockey and we need that desperately in the top 6.

No problem with one year deals but most players wont sign them unless they are desperate.

Yeah I think I might have expected more from him than was reasonable ...it's weird to think now that in the preaseason probably the best line was tkachuk Bennett Brouwer ...never materialized though in the regular season

Which FA's are you bringing back?

Obviously Horvat, Tryamkin and Gudbranson.

For me I qualify Gaunce, Labate, McEnemy, Boucher, Gartieg, Chaput.

Rodin, Cramrossa, Skille, Megna, Shore, Larsen, Pedan, Zalewski, Grenier, Billins, Rendulic, Nillson can all jog on, I want to reset our depth.

I thought there was Cap room to sign him too. Thought he was plan B when Lucic spurned Nucks for better Oil team. But he either didn't want to come to Van or wasn't given an offer. Only JB knows. But little was said about it. My guess is he spurned too. Just like any UFA worth anything will be saying no thanks to Canucks for the froseable future. LE will be and is last high profile guy to sign here. Probably will be asking for a trade as soon as Sedins bail.

What`s your thoughts on Bennett?

I haven't watched enough games to get a read on him.
