It literally did inflate his stats, I agree that the Sedins should be the 2nd unit and that Sutter isn't a PP player.

Also, if I was just in it for hate, I wouldn't go from hating the Granlund deal to giving Benning props for it.

Have you ever heard of "You are strong as your weakest link"

We are spending 25 million dollars on 4 Swedes that have given us less than stellar performance. It flows downhill from there

7 points...if replaced the 4 minutes of power play time with additional 5 v5 time would he score 4 points? 5 points? It's minor. Anyways, I agree he isn't deployed correctly. He should be used as a defensive 3rd line center unless he moves into the top 6 with injuries. Willie is an idiot.

Recent article breaking down JB's record at drafting in the 1st and 2nd round in his career. Questions if he can scout and draft amateur players with success. As whether Canuck's need a different approach.

You know after all the duds from MG era, except for Bo of course, the Canuck fan base just craved somone to do better and rebuild team. Maybe we might be too confident on picks coming and upcoming? I do think the article did slight things against JB. Said WD not to blame for level of talent.

Sedins Edler and Loui have a combined 40 goals. I think pointing fingers at the rest of the lineup is foolish .

One third of your cap space for 40 goals. Doesn't Marchand have like 37 himself?

It's not upsetting me? I just said it would of been a great trade 1 for 1... I just realized it was Gudbranson who fetched our 2nd last year and not Bonino....

I do prefer Sutter over Bonino but that doesn't mean he is better or should of held more value considering contracts and the cap trouble Pit was in.

- belcherbd

Yes. Unless he was in a bidding war with some other GM for Sutter, I also thought Benning looked like a rookie GM on this deal. Sutter was a player Pittsburgh had to move to escape cap pergatory and Bonino was an ideal fit for them both from a position and contract perspective. As the motivated seller, the Penguins should have been the ones to sweeten the pot, not the Canucks.

Even one for one would have been fine and the overpayment on Sutter's extension wouldn't have seemed as bad. It stills feels wrong a couple of years later that he added a better draft pick and a young defenceman who they gave up another asset to acquire.

Same thing with the Gudbranson trade. He was a guy the Panthers had decided to move, but once again JB threw in more than he should have to get him.

Hopefully dealing from a position of overwhelming weakness is what caused it and we'll start to see him come out on the better side more often as he did with the Hansen and Burrows deals.

I'm just suggesting that offensively he's an average 3rd liner. There's bigger problems to deal with, like Eriksson, and getting a 1st line.

I'm all for trading Edler ASAP

I can't stand some of what WD does:
- Love affair with Megna who should be in the AHL
- Not playing Horvat's line as L1 and PP1
- Sutter on the PP
- Took him forever to move Edler off of PP1
- Why he thinks Eriksson/Sutter works together at 5v5
- Plays Shore straight outta Europe into the NHL but says Goldobin needs more practice to learn the system

But he's a great tank commander

Sutter + for RNH? Edm will need to shed salary next off season for McDavid.

Tanev…for RNH.

Meh, the Sedins scored 21% of our goals last year and we were still bottom 5. Blaming all of our problems on 4 Swedes is Don Cherryesque.

I don't care if they're all gone, we're still gonna suck.

I am not going to debate who is better but we certainly don't need RNH. No franking thanks
- CanuckDon

Unless it's your goal to get softer and even weaker defensively, the Oilers would have to add quite a bit for it to make any sense from the Canucks perspective. Maybe some kind of package including RNH and Puljujarvi for Sutter and a couple of other decent pieces?

You can have your opinion but when I see other top lines scoring 80- 90 goals and ours sits at 55 I have the right to be Cherry like.

This year they are at 36

Can't argue any of this..the most frustrating thing with Willie is he won't admit his mistakes and make changes. He just sticks with the same sh!t game in and game out

bang on. We just a acquired a couple small skilled guys we need to balance the lineup with a bit of size now. The exception of course is when we draft Nico

You do, but your opinion was like that when they were a top 10 first line so I take it with a grain of salt.

They're still 2nd and 3rd in scoring on the team, so implying that it's addition by subtraction is absurd.

It would be great if we had players that could force them out of the lineup, but that's far from the case. Even if we had all that free cap space ( which we will after next season) I doubt guys are lining up to play here.

Edler lets Marchand go by him all night against Boston. He takes the puck off Hank skates by Daniel and Edler untouched and WD calls out Tryamkin who was not even on the ice.

As much as my opinion is swayed one way Canuck fans are swayed the other way.

Yes they got their points . They got the bulk of the PP for ten years playing maybe 5 of their 20 min a night 5 on 4 . Of course they will get their numbers.

WD would play him regardless. Megna is this years Vey. WD always has a love affair with a crappy player that works hard. Probably because he is a crappy coach that works hard.

I agree but.

If you have one third of your caap space invested in 4 players that have 40 goals , I find i ridiculous to blame the players below.
