The projected group of Vegas defencemen looked deeper and better than our group.

I don't think any team is gonna trade a top pair defenseman
So no, I would not wanna trade Sam
Not unless it's for a legit top pair guy

I'd try to do a Fasching + type deal & see what that gets us
Should be a solid 2nd pair guy
If we can get 2 of them, that should help our defense quite a bit

- jdfitz77

In fairness, this is what Taylor Hall brought back.

Id trade sam for the defencemen version of sam(in terms of ceiling or whatever)

I've been rooting for as many Goals/Assists/ and Improved play from our players who will be around in two years, while still hoping for a loss.

What good does a game with a deflected shot from Franson and a winner from Moulson getting US? Nothing. On the other hand if the core plays a great game, I don't mind them winning. If we're being outplayed by the opponent, every fan should root for a lose. We only have 10 to go.

When I started this style of Fandom, we were 12th from the bottom with people hoping for a playoff run, I wouldn't have minded that, but thats not what we got. So since then we have finally gotten down to Number 7!
My goal is 5-6

Losing tonight is HUGE!, I want the Redwings/Carolina/Winnipeg/Vancouver above us!

- MEBSabresFAN

Learning how to win. That's what it gets us. Every time a young team makes the playoffs the narrative is always "this team needs to learn how to win" and when an experienced team makes the playoffs, like the Caps, the narrative is always "they don't have any excuses".

Im not totally opposed to trading Sam, or Kane...
just don't think that should be our first option
Especially if it just gets us "Larson" in return

My thinking is I dont want to but to get us a defencemen with serious upside you probably have to.

If you dont make that deal now while the value is still very high, you run the risk of trading him for whatever 50% of his value is at that time (sorta like Hall and Larsson)

Your opinions are fine...
that's what the site is for
But u CONSTANTLY beat them into the ground

We all get it
Reinhart should be better

But if he's NOT part of the problem,
Why do u have to bring it up ALL the damn time?

Move on man

I just don't think teams are gonna trade us a legit partner for Risto
So if that's the case, I'm not giving up Sam or Kane

If Hall, an 80 point stud of a first overall forward drafted "only" gets you Larsson, what would a scrub who disappears like Reinhart get? Bogosian??

They're not going to trade an established guy. They'll trade a guy who could be

much like Reinhart. You're taking on some risk but its probably your best bet. Ekblad has had a rough year, but i bet most of us in hindsight would go defence in that draft.

So im not sure i see the issue in at least exploring that option.

Yes, 100%. They need to get used to winning. Instead of getting used to losing. The Oilers and Leafs got lucky, the Leafs especially that all their good players came together in the same year.

I'll use my go to team. The Bengals, Marvin Lewis missed the playoffs 5 of his first 6 years with the team. They got lucky in his third year and won 11 games, Palmer got knocked out on like the 3rd play, so who knows what would've happened, but they still lost by 14. He went 8-8, 8-8, 11-5(playoffs, obviously), 8-8, 7-9, 4-11-1, 10-6(playoffs), 4-12, 9-7(playoffs) and won 10-12 games for the next 4 years and made the playoffs.

Notice any similarities to the Sabres yet? It takes time to turn around a losing team. They made the playoffs and then had a misstep, and then another, and then another, but the owner/GM didn't freak out and stayed the course and it helped.

I just have doubts we can get a guy like that
