Yeah, Bogo being this bad, and Gorges falling off a cliff definitely wasn't expected. I think had either or both been "OK" we wouldn't be nearly in this big of a mess.

I think an ideal scenario though not a realistic one is that we trade Badgosian or Vegas claims him then Gorges is released and plays in Rochester next year.

If we do convince Petersen to sign and start in Rochester Murray not only better improve the defense here in Buffalo he better do it in Rochester as well or else the kids confidence is going to be shook his first year playing for such a joke of a hockey team
- bluengold12

Really good point. Even if it means signing more ahl lifers at defense just to have some stability. There's no reason we should have 5 or 6 unused contracts like we do this year. We are trying to create an atmosphere of winning right?

If Eichel gets his $2m bonus I think putting McCormick on ltir would just about cover any overage for the cap.

Murray seems to sign a few guys a year that seem like good signings on the surface but either the coaching, the team chemistry or the depth isn't getting it done. Usually there's just one or two guys who score a lot of points and that's it.

What are you trying to say? Murray (frank)ed up? Sure, I've already stipulated to that. So I don't know what you're trying to say.

It should. Maybe about $100K difference, thereabouts.

At the same point he signed Falk and Fedun for depth guys and I think they have held their own quite well.

Fasching doesn't belong in the NHL, and honestly I don't care if Vegas takes Girgs. He and Ennis are probably more detrimental to this team than 26 and 47

Does Crosby get a suspension for his 'lifting the junk' move?

Huge exaggeration and false statement. There's no one on this team more determental than 47 when you take into account what it cost to get him, his cap hit, his term left, injury prone and his beyond awful play.

I still think we can trade Girgensons for something small. Ennis and Moulson Both need to go. I agree Fasching looks like nothing more than a mediocre to solid AHL guy thus far in his short career.

He should get the max fine, but I'd wager he doesn't even get a phone call. Not that we'd ever know unless he's disciplined.

Just signing those two guys wasn't enough for the team to be good. He needs to step up his game big time next year there if he wants Petersen to grow into a potential solid goalie.

Just for the hell of it, I was looking at Murray's drafts for defense, rounds 1-3.

2014: (picks) 2, 31, (had 39), 44, 49, 61, 74-Martin

2015: (picks) 2, (had 21), (had 25), (had 31), (had 43), 51-Guhle, (had 62)

2016: (picks) 8, (33 from 38), (had 64), 69, (had 76), 86-Fitzgerald, (had 89)

That's having held 21 picks in the first 3 rounds and selecting 3 defense men.

Kane and Reinhart are a period away from 5 game point draughts.

That's a 2 minute penalty for interference.

Btw, does anybody else find it pathetic how a couple of our younger posters take the contrary view on everything to get attention

Ahh, well, no it wasn't expected. Gorges was still a productive player. Montreal wanted to get younger, and who would you keep Markov or Gorges? Even when they were at their best. So they shipped out Gorges. Buffalo wanted experience. They got that. He did come here during the tank. I don't think Murray ever saw him as more than a 5/6. but he hasn't even been that. Bogo was definitely expected to be better than he is, another guy that's barely a 3rd pair. He was expected to be a 2nd pair guy.

I like Risto's hit. Stayed on his feet and followed through cleanly. Too bad the guy didn't have the puck but Crosby sent him a suicide pass. 2 minute interference penalty should have been the call.

Looking things up today I noticed Kane's drought too. I think the 3 prior games to last night they had only scored 2 goals, so that helps no one obviously. Been a low scoring stretch lately. 4 through 4 2/3 game now?

They haven't had a Guinness in 5 games? But St Patrick's day was just on Saturday!

Or do you mean drought?

Let me rephrase, they were very wrong to expect that from two guys who never showed the capabilities of playing the roles theyve been given since coming here.

That's a bit better, since they've both been used as a top pairing guy. But even if we kept Zadorov, do we really think he's a top pairing guy? Hell, half of you don't even think Risto is.

Maybe the problem is the Bogo has actually laid off the blow, so now he's not as good as he was when he got that contract. You have to be sort of good to get that money. Even Benning isn't that stupid.
