If you fire bylsma (who may not be the best fit ) youre still left with... a bad team

the lack of improvement from 23,28, 56, 63 and even 29 (still good but expected a better offensive season) could cripple us.

IMO 15& 40 are the only two that have really taken a step forward.

9, 26 ,15 are the next level of players that have improved since last year a little.

Hire David Quinn, Jack's coach at Boston

He was a head coach in ahl

assistant coach in nhl

50 years old

jack likes him, and we should get a coach IMO that makes jack happy

ehh i disagree, then you fall into the you only got the job because of jack.

You shouldnt have to like your coach/ boss but you should respect him. and from afar it looks like sam is more in the dog house than jack

I mentioned it last week, but it's worth bringing up again (and re-iterating that I'm taking a good point I heard on a podcast and talking about it here):

If Bylsma is fired now/in the offseason, Buffalo has a nice big pool of coaches to hire from

If he's fired 2 months into next season, to "see if things turn around", then the coaching pool is empty and then Terry Murray or the Amerks coach slot in as Sabres HC. How is that beneficial?

his coaching record for the last 3 years is

72-33-13

that makes him a legit future nhl coach doesn't it?

its not, but if you fire him now/this off season and they are still a bad team 2 months into next season, guess who's next on the chopping block.

This happens so often in the nhl. Bylsma is acting as Murray's kevlar right now, hes got no incentive to fire him when hes not entirely sure how much he can accomplish this off season.

Oh for sure, I shouldve said if he signed in buffalo then you get that.

Either way im starting to think 23 is more of a coaching issue than jack.
Jack because of the name is getting the attention but believe Bylsma knows 15 has to play risky to be effective and jack and least respects the style of play

Next on the chopping block - agreed. But after only 2 months of a new coach? I dunno about that. I think he should rightfully get another year, at least through the trade deadline before I'd consider it worthy of firing a GM.

If the team is failing with no uptick in sight by that point, then even with my pacifism on the topic (hell, I wasn't a big Darcy hater), I'd understand a firing if it happened.

Might not like how long the season is. Or the amount of travel, the schedule, the attitudes of the players, etc....

There's a whole plethora of reasons a guy may not want that kind of gig.

the coach is not doing sam any favors

you have ror and gionta, 2 pretty decent vet guys

if your going to play sam on the wing, he needs to be with one of those guys

if your going to put sam on the dot, give him gionta and kane as his wingers

not blah players

Bailey, Ror, Reinhart
Kane, Eichel, Gionta

or

Foligno, Ror, Bailey
Moulson, Eichel, Ennis
Kane, Reinhart, Gionta

I'm not much of a NCAA follower, but was looking up ND info. It says they play this coming weekend and with 2 wins advance to the Frozen Four. Is it all single-elimination at this point forward for the NCAA?

I dont believe in the idea that firing bylsma would give eichel some outstanding sense of entitlement. Eichel will be going into year 3, and gionta will still be the captain of the team, gorges will still be "the right influence to young players" Maybe they still have some "growing up" to do, but its time to go. Now.

My point being they brought these types of players in during the tank years to instill some credibility and respectable figures into the locker room. Show the kids the way. Whether it has worked or not doesnt matter anymore. Its not now, and wont ever be anyones team but eichels. The kids arent 18 anymore. Eichel didnt get here by being entitled, he got here because he is very good at hockey. Let him be good and get a coach in here that will help the team be better. IMO its not bylsma.

Murray should have traded gionta at the deadline regardless of what he wanted. Sorry gionta, youre going to be on your way out anyways and you are having a solid year, see ya.
