I can't believe you'd trade Reinhart for a scrub. Even though you didn't say that, I'm saying you said that

If we can get Ekblad, then I'd do that for sure
I just have doubts we can get a guy like that

- jdfitz77

Lots of people on here think ekblad sucks

The whole team not wearing 15,90,55 and 9 stinks. 23 is on the tilt, good player just needs a little push. Sam will be fine.

complaining about someone who isnt really part of the solution is a little more justified though no?

I like him, but we drafted him as a cornerstone and to date he's been a very good complimentary player.

I lay some of that blame on the coaching staff for not testing his limits but it says a lot if they're not confident in doing so.

- Sabresfan-365

I'd like to see him at center next year
His smarts & playmaking are supposed to be his strengths,
so let's put him in position to maximize those skills

Yes, 100%. They need to get used to winning. Instead of getting used to losing. The Oilers and Leafs got lucky, the Leafs especially that all their good players came together in the same year.

I'll use my go to team. The Bengals, Marvin Lewis missed the playoffs 5 of his first 6 years with the team. They got lucky in his third year and won 11 games, Palmer got knocked out on like the 3rd play, so who knows what would've happened, but they still lost by 14. He went 8-8, 8-8, 11-5(playoffs, obviously), 8-8, 7-9, 4-11-1, 10-6(playoffs), 4-12, 9-7(playoffs) and won 10-12 games for the next 4 years and made the playoffs.

Notice any similarities to the Sabres yet? It takes time to turn around a losing team. They made the playoffs and then had a misstep, and then another, and then another, but the owner/GM didn't freak out and stayed the course and it helped.

- Wetbandit1

But why does staying the course=not exploring all your trade options?

This team needs defensive help and they could a cornerstone guy for a guy who could be a cornerstone guy? Thats not giving up on him or anything, its just business no?

wings have Riley Sheahan as net front presence on the PP. hes a offensive force out there and the sabres should be very afraid.

Agreed . Sam should be our Pommer replacement with better smarts . I think we will see , more of it next year.

I totally agree with this.
But he needs capable wingers or everyone is going to complain that he "sucks."
I still think Jack, Sam and ROR down the middle could be formidable.
But it all depends who their wingers are.

I don't know if they're going to last that long lol
- chilliard77

So they're not too chewy, just a bit more than you like. But seriously they're better if left open for a couple few days.

I wasn't talking about Sam. I was just speaking in generalities. More of a rebuttal to wanting to lose.

If they think they can improve, then by all means, trade him, but I don't think they can, unless defenseman prices come way down really fast.

I said that as well...
I think it was Homie who said we probably didn't have enough talent on the wings to do that though
He made a solid point
I think adding Bailey, Baptiste and maybe Fasching &/or Nylander...
that could make it possible to put Sam at center & have 3 scoring lines

If he stays at center the rest of this season,
That could give us an idea of whether or not they should keep him there

that's a possibility if we dump 2-3 guys and add 2 proven scorers
