If Elliott maintains his level of play for the rest of the season, he's likely to be the goalie Vegas decides to overpay and the Flames will have to settle for Bishop or Fleury.

Elliott has been underpaid most of his career, and I doubt he's going to be looking at handing out any discounts this time around. Plus, he'll likely have a Stanley Cup ring, so it'll be time to pad the bank account.

- Hunkulese

That's possible. Depends on if he really wants to finish his career battling for a lottery spot every year.

There are so many goalie options out there that I don't think anyone will be overpaying too much for a goalie. I don't really think many teams are going to give Elliott term and dollars. As long as the Flames offer is competitive with other teams I think he'd just sign here.

My bet is 2,000 fine. No injury and a lot of grey area with the hit. Player safety is a joke and I doubt they start taking their job seriously at this point in the season.

Love Tkachuk and I don't even really hate the hit ((frank) the Kings and (frank) Doughty ). He's still learning how to play with that edge, give him a few years and incidents like this will be few and far between.

- Saskabush

Kids learning how to create space for himself, I think Doughty might give him a little more room next time around.
Can't believe the Canucks passed on him! Benning better hope that pick pans out.

GUYS, QUICK QUESTION!

Thinking of coming to Calgary for the long weekend with my Gal, where is the best place/ cheapest place to get tickets to a game?! I have been dying to see a flames game in Calgary since 2002!!

and any hotel recommendations??

thanks guys! cheers!

- Squilliam-

Best accommodations I would recommend Red Carpet inn or Olympia motel. Close to Whipper. Cheap booze nearby and plenty of nightlife.

Cheap tickets just go to a scalper.

I have no problem with how Tkachuk plays. Greasy is exactly why we drafted him. The elbow on Doughty is dirty no doubt but it really didn't look that bad to me. Probably a fine at the most.

The kid's 19 years old and still learning. He's stuck to his game all year. These questionable hits will be few and far between once he learns to reign it in a bit. I love Tkachuk and I love his game. The Flames have needed a guy like him for a while.

Exactly...whatever he gets will be well worth it.

I think Tkachuck is kind of being unfairly judged. He's had 2 pims since Jan 24th but a lot of people are certainly quick to judge him as a dirty player. He's had a few incidents this year but overall he's really just not that bad.

Look, Doughty is a chirper and a cry baby. I am not shocked someone rekt him, it was dirty it was intentional and he will get something for it. If he was smart he would have kept that hand in his stick and claimed it was a swipe at the puck.

My only regret is that he couldn't have gone over to the bench and done the same thing to Sutter. How the hell do you not give kempe second pp unit?

- MikeOxbyg

Great post. Tkachuk hit was dirty but it also will make people think twice going into the boards with him. Doughty is not saint.

The world has gone to poop. When a cheap shot becomes a scandal and people female dog about it for days because their life sucks they need to assess their priorities.

was just gonna post this...he has one penalty in like 20 games while being a dominating force out there

and to those crying that its interference....Brown does the same thing to Gio later in the game...its called hockey

Man are the Kings ever gonna suck for a while though, I mean they had a good run but looking at their aging roster and contract commitments...I think Doughty is gonna be pouty for a long long time

so many other things went wrong this season besides a stupid missed call. If Sutter would have let Kempe and Ladue get called up at the 30 game mark, when we knew there was a problem, then this season could look a little bit different. at least Blakey and Luc finally broke him but it was too little too late and Sut-boy is still hazing Kempe,

yet Kings fans are pinning this whole season on the bishop trade and that elbow

I think it just happened. Dirty for sure but it wasn't premeditated and the intent to injure wasn't there IMO. If so it would have been much harder.
- The-O-G

I only say intent to injure because he pretty obviously targeted Doughty's dome with the elbow. Don't think it was necessarily premeditated, but it also didn't come out of nowhere. He pretty clearly stopped because Doughty was coming, and aimed the elbow pretty well.

Really? Thought the Bishop trade was pretty well done, not a lot surrendered for a vezina calibre goalie? Was a pretty decent move to hedge your bets in net...

Wonder where D Sutts will coach next if Lombardi decides to go in that direction.. Could be a very different team in a couple years.

not Premeditated? maybe... but that doesn't mean he didn't know where Doughty was and he certainly wasn't aiming for his chest. I get all the points being made, but this was dirty and calculated, own it and move on. he will get a slap on the wrist, be happy and congrats on a great season, speed kills and hopefully kings management was watching your speed break us down like a cardboard box.

I would be on our thread right now, but our writer isn't exactly "Johnny on the spot" with his blogs

seriously, great win, I love it when our lack of speed gets exposed...

Hah adding Iggy and giving him powerplay time certainly didn't help the "lack of speed" issue.

It was indeed an intentional and mean elbow to the face to the Kings' best player.

Not gonna defend that hit it was definitely dirty but he is still a kid who also plays on the edge it's going to happen... Not to mention Doughty is a very underratedely punchable guy, watch any mic'd up video with him the guy is a schnitzel head

Why hasn't SB hit been talked about? The guy can lay em out

He's gradually starting to cut back on that, thank god. For a guy that chirps as much as he does, he really sucks at it.

Hated him since the clip wear he chirps Paul Byron... He's a great hockey player no doubt but not surprised people can't resist cheap-shotting him

As a former player who played with an edge this picture is a thing of beauty for me.

Never want to see guys get hurt or have their careers ended early. But I miss the days when catching a guy with his head down or getting a bit of payback was not a major international incident.

Chucky should have been assessed a 2 minute minor elbowing penalty on the play, but there shouldn't be supplemental discipline or even a fine. A warning to tone it down should be more than sufficient

Is Bishop really a great goalie?

It doesn't seem to be the case, at least not since his injury.

Both smell like dirty snatch.

Reminds me of Whippers moms house.
