2 years in the last 8 they had 2nd rounders...there are still good players there even though they're harder to find.
- BashCH

This is what they have this upcoming draft

1st round pick - Montréal
2nd round pick - Montréal
2nd round pick - Montréal (from Washington - Eller trade)
3rd round pick - Montréal
4th round pick - Dallas (from Montréal - Benn trade)
5th round pick - Montréal
6th round pick - Tampa Bay (from Montréal - Nesterov trade)
7th round pick - Winnipeg (from Montréal - traded for 2016 pick #187)

If they don't trade those picks to get Andrew Shaw #2.

Well statistically your chances of finding an impact player decreases drastically after the first round.

But I agree that the habs don't have enough punch on offense to be contenders and should keep their picks at this point and play the odds.

- Fredobbface

the odds of not making it past the 2nd round are very good.

Shaw has provided some offense here and there.

You can talk about prospects all day long, but the core of this team is not getting any younger.

There's just no way he was worth two 2nd rounders, Hawks weren't in a strong position at all since they knew they wouldn't sign him. To me it looked like MB felt bad for fleecing Bowman on the Danault deal.

No but I still think they could've given less for Shaw, doesn't matter what they got for Eller.

Shaw is producing at about a 40-point clip and providing a bit of edge and nastiness. i think he's been a good addition and he's been very solid since Julien came to town.
