If I remember correctly that camp was only two weeks because of the lockout. Not saying it makes it right or wrong but it wasn't your usual preseason camp. I remember reading he was starting that season in BP regardless and they basically used those two weeks for practices with the big squad to get ready for the season. Again not taking sides here but it was different circumstances surrounding that camp. - Vukota
nino was also half assing it in bport and pissing off the locker room down there to the point a member of the sound tigers chased him into the parking lot and tried to kick his ass, but you did not hear that from me |

This isn't about defending the poor decisions. This is a case were everyone involved was wrong. The Isles have mishandled a whole bunch of players. I don't think there is anyone that would disagree. But unlike Halak, Nino was an unproven rookie. You don't see Berube publicly complaining and he's being horribly mistreated. Who knows if the kid could be a decent goalie if he actually got to play regularly in the AHL. Instead he's been rotting away in the press box or on the bench.
Just to be clear, Snow is a (frank)ing egotistical stubborn moron. He lets his feelings get in the way of doing the right thing for the team. The Isles have gone as far as they can under his leadership. Until he's gone they will always be a bubble team that will likely be booted in the first round of the playoffs, if they even make it. Snow's love affair with low level talent is baffling. Maybe he sees those guys as a reflection of himself. I just hope that a new PoHO will come in and can his ass. It's the only way to stop this cycle.
BTW You were happy we got Clutterbuck at the time. So was I but I don't like his contract. - JimmyP
Yes I was happy we got clutterbuck 4 years ago and never for a moment did I imagine we would have him for another 5 at a ridiculous salary. Also, let me be clear I LIKED clutterbuck at the time but I NEVER liked that deal and said we were robbed consistently on here since the day it happened. I remember bcs Vukota was right on board with me. We both liked clutterbuck but thought the deal was laughable for a 5th overall pick. |

No he isn't and if he was on the Isles you would hate him. - niteislander
Yeah I'd hate a potential selke candidate that plays with an edge and can score. I love me some Bailey, Quine, and Prince. My dislike for some islanders is not because they're islanders it's bcs they're not good players don't get confused. |

I agree. I thought they were merging the sound tigers with the Islanders this year? What level is he playing at next year? Good luck with the tryouts - Vukota
Squirt again.. he is 07.. icworks only has A. and AA and he made the AA last year so that is what I assume he will be on this year. Don't feel like making the trek to the Rinx or Northwell. |

Got that right for sure. It's a facking joke how expensive it is. Only good thing is the Ferraro brothers will be coaching his team this year. Having ex professionals coach is a big plus for their development - Vukota

Good primer if you're interested in the Frozen Four.
Isles have 4 prospects playing for 2 teams in the tournament.
Bellows/Somerby for BU (vs. North Dakota - Friday 3/24 @ 3pm)
and
Bischoff/Cammarata for Minnestoa (vs. Notre Dame - Saturday @ 3:30)
Looks like I know what I'm doing from 3pm on at work on Friday. - eichiefs9
I go every year with a group of guys. It's really a cool event that moves every year. This year it is in Chicago. it's a big trip but it really is some incredible hockey and a lot of fun.
(I would love BU to make it to see Charlie McAvoy in the FF and the 2 Isles prospects. Cool site to see who drafted who in the NCAA. Also love the teams that do well with Zero kids drafted. Penn State winning the big 10 this year is pretty incredible). http://www.collegehockeyn.../reports/drafted.php?st=c

So I guess Doug Weight was the 4th line Center? I had season tickets.. I watched him Suk the first 2 weeks. He was moved down b/c he was terrible. He had stone hands, gave the puck away constantly and could not play a lick of defense. He had a shot.. he was not good. - niteislander
He was Garth Snows 5th overall pick.......I am not disagreeing with him sucking. I am saying that the buck stops with the GM, who drafted him, and then didnt give him a fair shot at making the lineup the following year. Thats the definition of mismanagement. |

Ready for this one? This is Snow's open letter to Islander's fans from when he was hired in 2006. It's a doozy.
Dear Islanders Fans everywhere,
I understand last Tuesday was an interesting day for you, to say the least. I'm a sports fan, too. My head was spinning for a while there. I can only imagine how you guys felt.
But now that the dust has settled and we're moving on, I wanted to reach out to you.
First off, thanks for your kindness and support during my four seasons as an Islanders player. I loved playing here, and so much of that was because of you. Long Island is a special place. My wife Erica, son Glenn and I have cherished our time here and plan on being Long Islanders for a long time.
To that end, and just as importantly, I'm not going to stand for anyone taking shots at this franchise. My philosophy during my 13 years as a player was that members of a team back each other up. It's one of the many reasons why I'm so happy to get to work with Ted Nolan. That's the way Ted's teams play. Starting in October, I have no doubt that you're going to be excited and proud to root for this Islanders team.
My philosophy as a manager is the same. Now, I don't want you to think I'm going to be a bully with the press or heckling fans. That's not my style and I accept it as part of the business. But I will make my feelings clear at all times: on or off the ice, don't take a cheap shot at our guys.
I need you to know that I'm counting on Islander fans to continue to back us up during the highs and lows. Let's not forget where the Islanders were before Charles Wang saved the franchise because he felt it was right for Long Island. Don't forget that this team went two presidential terms not making the playoffs, often not even able to compete, before Charles took over. After making the playoffs three years in a row, we fell short last season. This summer we added several quality veterans and our work is not yet done. Our one and only goal is to contend for a Stanley Cup, but we can't do it without you.
When the puck drops on October 5 in Phoenix, what happens on the ice will be about Coach Nolan, Rick DiPietro, Yash and Miro and the rest of the players. When we open at home before a packed Coliseum crowd of Islanders faithful on October 14, it will be the home debuts of Brendan Witt (I hated watching him throttle my guys!), Chris Simon (ditto), Mike Sillinger, Tom Poti - and who knows who else?
I believed this as a player and believe this as a manager: the Islanders are about the men wearing the orange and blue and the map of Long Island on their crest. As a sports fan like you, I love the home-grown guys. That's why Jeter and Bernie are immortal Yankees, why David Wright and Jose Reyes are so dear to the hearts of Mets fans. Of course, we love all of our Islanders, but how can you not be excited about DiPietro…Robert Nilsson…Ryan O'Marra…Petteri Nokelainen…Jeremy Colliton…Kyle Okposo…Blake Comeau…Sean Bergenheim…Chris Campoli…and so many others.
I shared the same ice surface with all of them. Take my word for it. Something special is happening here. Thanks to our scouts, the present and future are very promising.
Ted Nolan, Bryan Trottier and the rest of our staff are going to present a team that battles hard for each other and for the Islanders' crest. Our team will be a combination of our draft picks developed properly and veterans leading the way. Just as important, we will have players who want to be here, players proud to be Islanders and players that will get involved in our community.
I understand that I need to earn your confidence and respect over time. Over the next few weeks, I want to hear from Islander fans. I've asked the team to set up an email address where you can send questions and I'll answer as many as I can on the site. (Don't worry; my days are long enough to manage the team and address your questions). Comments are encouraged, too. Let's communicate and let's get behind the Orange and Blue. - eichiefs9
OMG Chiefs this is a classic
Just wondering if this email address is still in place because I and I'm sure many Islander fans have a ton a questions we would love answered! |

I think he's better than you think. Don't be sorry I'm not saying the guy is an elite player but he sure as shat would be a help to this (frank)ing gong show of a team and for you to even debate it is laughable. We have quine and prince on our pp. Enough said. I'd take him and his bad attitude agent over clutterbuck and his abortion of a contract any day of the week. |

He is probably still answering wuestions thats why he forgot to manage the team - Cptmjl
Hi Andrew,
First let me thank you for your email and your support of the New York Islanders. It's fans like you that make my job so pleasurable.
We're really excited about forward prospects like Rhett Rakhshani and Robin Figren, defensemen like Dustin Kohn, and our blue-chip goaltender-of-the-future Stefan Ridderwall. We believe all or most of these guys will be ready to make the jump for the 2006-07 season.
Thank you for your concern,
Garth Snow

To be fair both clutterbuck and cizikas deserve the criticism. They're playing a game that's not even comparable to years past. I know Casey just came back from injury but he was invisible before he got injured. - Cptmjl
I'm not trying to be a dack but Casey was on his way to surpassing all of his career highs in just about every category before his injury. Were you expecting him to be a 2nd line center or something?

His physical game was non existent and I honestly didn't notice the guy when he was on the ice for the month leading up to his injury. Forgot he was even on the team. No I didn't expect him to be a 2nd line center just because Snow paid him like one
By the way you don't have to try to be a dack. Some people are just naturals and you my friend fit the bill |
