whos mark friedman - jmdodgeser4
He is a smallish righty d-man who plays a solid two way game, but has real offensive potential. Plays for Bowling Green, their top d-man. He was a third round pick.. |

I have a friend who goes to bowling green.
Said he is not as dynamic offensively as Gostisbehere but he is a good offensive player. Also has a little edge to his game. Said he is kind of like Tory Krug. |

It's more important to log heavy minutes matching up against Jason Akeson than it is to play against real NHL competition. |

Yea that seems like a good comparison. He is a gritty player from everything I have read. Ive never personally watched him play but the thing I hear about him that I like the most is that other teams hate him. |

Your right bring all of them up. It would be super for PHANTOMS not to make the playoffs instead of making it to playoffs so they can get some sheltered minutes up here that mean Jack...

Assuming everyone returns healthy , the top dmen for the Phantoms? - ravishingone
I'd assume Myers starts in the AHL next year unless he goes wild in the preseason (honestly, I thought he looked just a 1/2 step behind Provorov last preseason). I think Myers will be top pair on the right side. |

It's more important playing heavy minutes and continuing to develop. They play PP and PK down there instead of playing some sheltered minutes in the NHL. It's also about creating a winning culture.

Or do both. The Flyers only have, I believe, 4 call-ups they can make, but I wouldn't mind seeing Sanheim and Morin get in a few NHL games (4-5) before getting ready for the Calder Cup playoffs. Hell, I'd give Stolarz a few starts too with the way that Lyon has played. |

This for sure. Teaching kids how to win in gritty situations is probably more important than sheltered minutes in the NHL. |

No, he probably wants to try to win a national championship this year. |

A little late now, but when the season went south, they could have brought them up for 25-30 NHL games. |

I would love to see that too.
Just saying that since they are in a real dogfight there down the stretch, right now playoffs are not a guarantee, it may be more beneficial for their development stay and fight to make the playoffs.
I guess we will see what is more valuable to their development by what the GM decides to do.

Once the Flyers are officially eliminated there could be call-ups. A chance to rest some of the veterans that are presumably playing thru minor injuries.
But because of the AHL's dumb playoff system, the Phantoms still have a long way to go to clinch a playoff berth. |

1. "Winning" culture is irrelevant
2. They don't log heavy minutes on the Phantoms
3. They could log the same kinds of minutes on the Flyers |

I know what your saying but has it really been 20 games the flyers have been out of it? Phantoms have been an elite team in the ahl and their not close to locking up a playoff spot yet thanks to the new format |

except they haven't clinched a spot yet thanks to the ridiculous AHL playoff format. 3rd most points in the league and 5 points away from missing the playoffs. |

They could have.
But why break up a team trying to win a calder cup and have a deep run in the playoffs?
I know people will state playing in the NHL is best, even if on a non-playoff team but I think these kids playing hard minutes in a playoff run is very good for development. |
