He's also a year older than those two.. He plays that lateral game and like Kadri it takes a long time to learn how to do that effectively and not turn the puck over.. I think he's improved a lot too.
- Arctic_AARDVARK

It is still his first year but yes he did have 70 games in the AHL to marinate.

What I am getting at is some people ignore that he has all the potential to be a PPG player in the NHL. Some people want to trade him for a 2nd pairing d man and that is ludicrous. It is a top pairing D coming back or no deal

I prefer they keep him anyways

It's nice of Connor to share the scoring lead with different guys throughout the year

Nah, Leo is in his right place on Kadri's line, and while he doesn't give much going forward, he's one of the best defensive forwards that we have - moving him would make that line much less effective against top lines. Personally I'd slot Leivo right in there - he's effective enough along the boards but brings much better hands than Hyman.

I agree, for now.

I'd only trade him if Doughty a coming back

But... Although we need his scoring right now, we may need defence more.. I don't think they would get fair value for him though. Kap, Timashov, Bracco, Johnson won't replace his production but they might be able to plug the hole enough to make it a viable option to move him.. I say keep him, hope he becomes a ppg all-star, then re-evaluate your options.

And truthfully, our D seems to be tightening up.. only allowed 1 regulation goal vs TB and CHI.. Maybe our defence isn't as bad as first thought.

Disappeared or in his Rookie year learning how to be an all around NHL centerman.

Not saying it's not expected...but just calling it out, I don't see why not. Easy to call Hunwick a dummy etc...but I think it's ok to point out the best players flaws when they are happening too. JMO

I think Aetherial just picks his spots to rile up the some of dummies who frequent this site. He perpetuates nonsense and claims the people who get upset by it are too sensitive. It's been his shtick since I've been a poster. My guess is he's just really bored. Never seems to come around when things are going well. Like Honest Hockey or IggysBFF.

How long do we have to go back to "things are going well"

Calling Matthews disinterested and that no other top rookie goes through slumps is what made people angry.

Every damn rookie has gone through at LEAST one big slump his year. Even Crosby went for an 8 game goaless streak

It would be be huge mistake if they traded him. I think he will be a centre and a very good one a that. Like a Giroux

And yep. Our is mediocre for sure but it's not close to the worst in the league. The Leafs wouldn't be where they are right now if it was.

Won't judge him for what he chooses to drink. To each their own. Right Garnie?
