3 games in 4 days. Even Provorov looked gassed. Guess what, they aren't robots and I don't care what people think, players get spent physically and emotionally and have stinkers because of it. its not a lack of effort. You hope they can dig deep and win but sometimes it just doesn't happen. One thing goes wrong and it snowballs.

It was all in the same time zone and there were no daylight savings times, so there is no excuse

what does that have to do with his initial post about Hextall not promoting young players for 5 years which is what I was responding to? Guess what, I don't agree with 100% of what organization do and I am on the fence with some things organizations do. I am neither 100% pro not 100% female dog fest. But maybe I should spend 10 pages on PEB and CVV and how Mason isn't Lundvist.

I would be mildly surprised but definitely not shocked. here is the thing, since under Lavy we have seen a very inconsistent team. the common denominator is what? the players. I don't think they quit but there is something not working. Obviously the defense is still an issue but they have brought in Gudas, Ghost and Provorov over the last few years. they obviously still lack size and speed. I'm going to continue to be patient as Hextall's plan is played out but I definitely want to start seeing more of the young players brought in. My feeling is Hextall is going to start doing that based on his comments after trading for Filppula when he said he didn't want longer term contracts that will block players who will be here sooner rather than later. they will be ridding themselves of contracts after this year and next so there are openings. the million dollar question is the coaching.....is Hakstol and company the right coach(es). I am on the fence still

I actually think they've been pretty consistent. They either just make the playoffs or just miss the playoffs.

How can we know if Hakstol is a good coach or not unless he gets a Cup caliber roster? It's not fair to judge anything he has done yet imdho.

obviously they sure as poop need to get it right with the players they are drafting.

As far as G goes and even Ghost's struggles, I will say both have played a lot better of late so I am hoping very much that the issues were their surgeries and not being completely healed. Guess we will find out next year. In the case of Giroux, I am praying that has been the issue.

- nastyflyergirl

Didn't they have the same surgery around the same time? Both seem to be skating better at the same time.

Dishonest.

It kills me that I have to accidentally start reading almost every single one of Bonerfide69's posts now before going, "(frank). Did it again."

Also, Flyers on pace for the same number of points they had the year Berube was fired, but we can't judge Hak because this roster is so much worse than that one.

It's almost like you CAN judge a coach independent of wins and roster, on their systems and how they manage the team. Like how Babcock did a great job handling the worst team in the league last year and now the turnaround this year. Or Bill Peters in Carolina. Or even how Brett Brown is a great coach for the Sixers.

Every coach Richards around with player management. Every last one. But it's how the Flyers play under Hakstol that worries me and is fair to judge. Not benching Ghost or having to change his shorts after the 4th line takes a shift (though those do call into question how he evaluates talent)....it's this cookie cutter high low college system and repulsion to anything unsafe and creative that worry me. It's absolutely stifling.

He doesn't inspire too much hope moving forward. From a personal standpoint, I would rather move on, but I'm fine with them keeping him. I understand the politics of it and I'm sure Hexy believes Hak can turn things around.

Curious to see what changes are made because it appears the Flyers are going to finish around 8-10 points out of a spot. It's a lot to expect your young players to make that much of a difference just by improving.

I feel like I noticed less of it early on in the season. I want to say there were some tweaks made in an effort to cover up the disaster that they were defensively early on. I am just going off of memory for a lot of it (lots of bad defense). Basically I am saying it feels like they've made an effort to tighten up instead of just playing better.

It does feel like there are still just boneheaded breakdowns too

I can't remember a time when the flyers had so many perceived good prospects. Hopefully most will pan out. The disconnect right now is that unless a prospect is exceptional in Hexy's eye (ie Provorov and Konecny ), he's more then okay keeping a prospect in the minors until a few 23 of 24. For this reason, I think it is still too early to think guys like le5, Hagg, and Laughton can't be contributors to the flyers over the next 2 seasons

They're right in that money zone of taking few risks and playing safe so as to score few goals, and yet having breakdowns left and right in every zone to give them up. They're playing some unique hockey right now that's for sure.

I'm talking from night to night. outside of that 10 game streak they play well one or two games then stink.
