I'd like a list compiled of NHL veteran dmen who were demoted to the minors for half a season, only to return the following year and added to the top pairing.

The Flyers already traded two big contracts to get younger and deeper. Schenn and Simmonds are going to combine for 100+ points again, while Richards is out of the league. Carter is still really good at 32, but the Flyers turned him into Voracek, Couturier and Cousins.
- Feanor

Yes but fans understandably want more. I get it. The Richards/Carter era was much more entertaining than the Hextall one has been so far.

Couturier and Scehnn though quality players have not lived up to the lofty expectations. Simmonds impact just seems to be taken for granted in terms of Holmgren acquiring and signing him to a steal of a deal. Voracek lost most of his shine the day he signed his 8.25 per year contract.

Kessel and Phanuef would be like trading Giroux and Voracek. Living In the Toronto area I can tell you things were absolutely portrayed in the media as toxic with them and the long term roles they were set to play on the team. I don't think Giroux and Voracek are at that point. Another stagnant year like this one, it could go in that direction.

I agree they did some savy cap management but I'm not sure it paid off vs the damage it may have done to their reputation around the league. Filppula is the first public example but I'm willing to be there will be others.

Filppula just didn't want to move to Canada. He turned down Montreal, too.

I'm actually moving to Toronna in a couple months. I used to hate it but my girlfriend opened my eyes to how great of a city it actually is.

I grew up about 50 miles outside of it. What did you get up to while you were here? I recommend visiting in the Summer Though we've gotten off pretty easy this Winter.

Turned it off at 3-1 and watched the first episode of Legion.

I'm not at all sure what the hell happened in that episode, but it was interesting.

I’m still trying to figure out how they both got out. After they kiss, his consciousness inhabits her body and her consciousness inhabits his (this is why she freaked out, like Lenny said). But how did their consciousness get restored to the correct bodies? And how did he get out? If their bodies physically transformed when they got their correct consciousness back, then that explains how David got out, but not Syd. Last we saw was Syd inside of David’s body trapped in a room with no door. I guess one of her buddies could have broken her out, assuming she was planted in the asylum to get close to David.

Someone please tell me if this gets explained, as it’s what I’m hung up on.

I can't wait for Andrew MacDonald night when that happens.

We can all back peddle down the aisle and into our seats that night.

I planned a bachelor party up there last weekend. Went to the Flyers game, gokarts in Brampton, and mostly drank. I stayed in the Trinity-Bellwoods area and loved it

I'm not in the fire Hakstol camp YET but I am growing weary of his personnel decisions specifically the goaltenders. Next year will be a big year for him.

Say the team just gives up and goes something liked 2-10 from here on in...think Hexy would pull the plug?

Doesn't matter... With this GM you won't see the player for five years anyway.
- redcoat75

Hextall was hired in May of 2014 which means he has been the head of the organization for 3 drafts. 2 of the players from 2015 are already here and I expect Sanheim will be soon enough as well as Lindblom who were both taken in 2014. thats not to mention Ghost and even Cousins taken by Holmgren. we should see Leier, Morin and Hagg next year too.

I think it might give Hakstol a shorter leash next year, but I don't think Hexy is ready to go down that road just yet.

I'm not ready to fire Hakstol. I need another year. I don't love the roster makeup and I'm not wholly convinced there is much tweaking to be done with the lineup deployments on a nightly basis to make things better than they are. The conversations I've seen here about what kind of 4th line to put out on a nightly basis are interesting, but I don't think those 4th line decisions are coach/team killers. The goaltender selection oddness is concerning. It is concerning that the best offensive players are declining, in raw scoring.

Maybe shed some dead roster weight this offseason, who they put in net, etc. and see where they are next year.

Love his drafting.

I suppose I would just like to know where he plans on adding top tier talent from to the forward core. This team desperately needs that. This forward core with the decline of Giroux is nowhere near the caliber it needs to be.

i know the club will improve under him, but it's about building a winner - not just an above average club with an over abundance of secondary pieces.

I personally think the Flyers are in a great position with prospects, but the problem is the casual fan wants that 1st round draft pick every year to be on the team and producing like an all-star.

Who's had a better track record coaching kids out of the NCAA to the NHL than Hakstol during his 10 year career there? Jury is still very much out on Hakstol and I never really liked the 5 year term but Hextall didn't make the decision blindly.
