Let's say, we don't really move anymore in the standings and pick 10th. Would you consider taking a stab at Liljegren? His stock as fallen, but it seems due to injury more than anything else. I think we could put another stud D-man in the bank if he falls to us.
- sskkoo1

I could def see Liljegren falling and if so I would absolutely consider him. I could see his stock leading up to the draft going either way at this point. He has the potential to jump into the top 3 or take a fall similar to Chychrun.

Does trading a top 6 forward make us better though? We're like 23rd in the league in scoring - do we want to drop further?
- turbo044

I think so. I think when the forwards have the puck in the o-zone they do a decent job. The problem is they rarely get there unless they're on the PP. Hence our god awful 5v5 numbers.

If you believe in nylander, bailey and whoever they pick this year, not really.

I dont like bylsma, but i dont buy this either. He's an nhl coach with an nhl system. And hes asking players with AHL level IQ's to execute this system.

Its hard to teach AP calculus to a bunch of idiots.

- Sabresfan-365

i'm not convinced with Nylander or even bailey right now in a top-six role...maybe a down the road but right now...

and, y'all love to rag on gorges and weber...truth be told Bylsma had a better defense when gorges was on the top pair with risto and weber was on the third pairing...bogo and McCabe were the most consistent pairing last season...

how is this d-corps worse than that?

Yea..sure just ignore the fact that that was an injury shortened season and that he scored 71 points the previous season.

Listen im not saying Sam Reinhart doesnt have a lot of value. He definitely does. but will he net you a top pairing d-man? I dont know. And frankly I dont see many teams willing to trade one of those right now. the Seth Jones type trades are pretty rare.

- MCGUIZZY

And Columbus clearly won that trade at this point. But I agree with you pretty much 100%.

I dont disagree but maybe there's a D equivelant of him? who knows
- Sabresfan-365

i think there are alot of D-men that he could bring back. Not that I want to move him but I think more realistic returns would be:

Ryan Ellis
Matt Dumba
Julius Honka

But at the same time i think we have other assets that could maybe net one of those guys.

Well, I don't go around showing disrespect. But there's a difference between respect and courtesy. I am polite and courteous to people I don't know. But respect is earned. I don't show respect right off the bat because then people try to walk all over you or they reveal themselves to be dubious and not deserving of respect.
- BeadyEyedDouche

I think I just have a broader definition on the word. To me I'd consider courtesy to fall into the umbrella of respect.

I'm more just talking in general than you specifically, I've known a lot of idiots that would just go around being bumholes to everybody and justify it by saying the same thing.

if i could keep kane at 4 yrs./$6.25 million a season, that would be ideal

we disagree here. I think they're worse this year because the guys who sucked before suck even worse now. And the only change was subbing out a guy who was okay in his role for a guy who is just terrible in his role now.

I think with him you can get someone in a tier above that but a tier below your Lindholms and what not.

Its mostly about finding a team with a surplus desperate enough to entertain the idea

Fair question: why is there a need to turn hockey into AP Calculus?

This would be the obvious criticism against bylsma (or one of them anyways)

And why hes a terrible choice for a team with a young core.

He'd do great up in Montreal where everyone is super smart. And with an old team.

Yea I think the obvious teams to target would be:

Anaheim
Nashville
and probably Minnesota

Not even saying Reinhart has to be involved in these trades but I really like the idea of a Ryan Ellis or Vatanen. An offensive guy that can be used as a weapon on the PP. Also these are guy you can target when the expansion comes around

Minnesota also has a prospect by the name of Gustav Olofsson that i would target

Also, to be fair, this is part of my overall problem with the league.

So many coaches seem to strangle the life out of players and creativity by installing system heavy schemes where players often end up thinking before acting instead of just acting and reacting.

Combine that with all the garbage that gets let go every game and the flow in the game seriously suffers, which is why it is so easy to fall asleep during parts of every game.

Cycle the puck, over and over, as if that is exciting over end to end play and speed.

Ellis could make sense. Still think Carolina's a logical choice but im not sure if they want to make those kinds of moves yet.

id take it a step further. forget where he said it but TM pointed out that most of these systems are defence heavy. Much like the NBA a while back the offence hasnt caught up to the defence in this sense.

With Bieska and his NMC, the Ducks have a serious problem come expansion draft time.

You're preaching to the choir on Ryan Ellis.

I believe the Ducks sat Vatanen for a game or two earlier this season.

Minnesota also has a prospect by the name of Gustav Olofsson that i would target but i think they would be more likely to trade Brodin. Love Dumba as well

Has brodin not done well for them this year? Scandella's probably the odd one out, hasnt played well in some time.

Pretty sure that's the case in nearly every sport as it's the easiest thing to coach, especially when you have minimal talent and want to keep games close, as in the end coaches want to keep cashing their checks and losing while playing an exciting brand of play generally won't accomplish that.

Many complain, but the NFL has done it right with all of their rules changes aimed at improving overall offense league wide.

It's what makes the Kings so horribly boring to watch quite often.

I dont think so. I think it makes sense in a hard cap sport where the talent from team to team is very thin but you look at any nba team with any sort of playoff talent on their team and they're basically going by the "we'll outscore our problems" system.

Quite a few european soccer leagues trending this way as well. How rich, the sport that coined the term parking the bus is phasing it out and yet it lives on in bylsma's heart
