Very possible and I wouldn't rule out Mason as that FA signing.
- Scoob

Sigh. I like Mason but I feel like the management wants to move on and they've made that fairly obvious. If we re-sign Mason I think it's a short term and only after we've shopped around for someone else.

Flyers career.

Yes, I know that and I'm sure that is what he meant. However he makes goofs like this quite a bit and it just floors me that a "professional" journalist so often fails to proofread his work. I won't even get into his constant attempts to create controversy where none exists. As someone who grew up in the era where Jay Greenberg covered the Flyers, I find today's beat writers to be extremely subpar.

Honestly Bill, you are the only journalist that covers the Flyers on a daily basis that does a superior job. Kudos to you, Sir.

There was an article saying that Ghost might put in a good word with Vecchione, but also said that he was going to let him focus on his play until Union ends their season. You'd have to think that he's on the Flyers list, since they invited him to development camp. There's also some saying that they might look at Foo, too, but he might stay in college for another year to play with his brother.

Vecchione was just named ECAC player of the year. Both him and Foo are Hobey Baker finalists. Not sure what kind of impact they'd have on the big club in the long run, but they'd be good guys to have in the system.

Why do I always imagine you taking a large swig of something amber after everyone of your posts?

I believe Vegas picks 3(based on odds). Do you think that pick is in play if they can get a star player to put the "C" on and promote?
- J35Bacher

They can sign Oshie as a marketable guy without sacrificing their pick

I think I'm just a little more down on Stolarz or Lyon becoming a starting caliber goalie in the NHL than most. I certainly don't think the team should be building their roster with the expectation that either of those guys will be ready for that within the next two years.

I have much higher expectations for Hart and Sandstrom

- PhillySportsGuy

I don't really think AHL numbers are the best way to evaluate the 3 (Murray) given the different teams they've played for, but I certainly agree Murray has developed to be the better goalie so far

There won't be that much space after signing Ghost now that Filppula is here.

Bernier could be a target in goal for Hextall. He was drafted 11th overall by the Kings in 2006.

- Feanor

There was a time when I really wanted the Flyers to get him. Now, I'm not so sure that would be a good idea.

Is this the time I have to admit that I was exhausted last night and fell asleep on the couch between periods 2 and 3? My husband couldn't believe it.
I guess even with them winning against the Penguins I know it's just too little too late.

Yes, I wouldn't put high odds on him being the one because there is definitely something going on between him and the team based on how he's been handled, but I wouldn't rule him out, either. With a better team defense in front of him he can be more than good enough.

So looking at the pending UFAs, there does not appear to be any big contracts that need to be filled. Hopefully they don't sign VDV, I would be willing to bet they kick the tires on MDZ for the right price..Mason is a big question on what they want to do long term, but my feeling is the go outside the org fi they can't get a good price on mason.
That really leaves the type of deal they do for Ghost as the only bump in Salary...so who do they target in FA with 10-13 Million of Cap space once the Ghost deal is done and the goalie situation is resolved?

- JW98FlyerFan

I don't see a lot happening this summer. No big splashes, at least. I could see another goalie being signed and maybe a dman. It could be the first time in a long, long time that the team carries a decent amount of cap space through the season.

Here is an example of how YJ operates.

Me the sky is blue.
YJ: well you know it is the role of the sun to reflect of the dust particles so why he is in the AHL is blah blah blah....

Mason starting again tonight. Seems like he's going on the run of 9 in 10 starts that Neuvirth did right before they signed him. Tonight will be 7 out of the last 8.

If they win this historical difficult matchup for the flyers and look good they are going all the way
