Mock drafts I've seen include names like Bernier and Hammond, etc. They need 3 goalies and Neuvirth is in the converstation, plus he was drafted by their GM.
Guys like Read are readily available to them in UFA. If Raffl is exposed that's a possibility, but Neuvirth is the better contract - Just5
Yikes - I'm not sure I'd pick him were he the only goalie available.
I don't think Neuvirth is as attractive as what people think.
Guys that could be available:
Fleury
Grubauer
Hutchinson
Raanta
Varlymov
Subban
I just don't think he's that attractive. I think Read would be a more attractive piece from the Flyers. - J35Bacher
I tend to agree, but the McPhee factor might come into play.
If they don't protect Raffl then I think he's clearly the best option for Vegas. The quality of forwards available to them won't be good so Raffl could go on the 2nd or 3rd line.

There are two other goalies on that list that McPhee took. Why would Neuvirth be the only one with that factor?
I think Read fits because he does play PK and can play PP. Raffl while he can move up and down the lineup hasn't been playing any special teams.

Wiese with 2 points, and Bellemare with an assist in the same game is pretty hard to script. I don't get why Read and Cousins were benched in the third period. - PLindbergh31
It looked like the coach went to a three line rotation in the Third period, Cousins, Konecny and Read seemed to get stapled to the pine. The first two I think I know Hak's reasoning for the third baffles me.
Cousins and Konecny are young and have been a little liable on the defensive side of the puck. Which makes Read an odd choice since he's pretty good defensively.

It's not just about "pick the 3 best goalies," it's about picking the best team. So if a team has a goalie more attractive then Neuvirth, but has a skater more attractive than that goalie, the skater will get chosen. Neuvirth will likely be more attractive than whatever else we expose.
Also, Fleury has a LNTC, so he'll either be protected or a UFA.

I get that.
I thought it was only NMC that HAD to be protected? How would he be a FA? He has another 2 years on his deal I thought?
What did Matt Murray do to show he was ready to be called up to the Pens? He played well in the AHL. Same thing Lyons and Stolarz have done.
You that scared of a young goalie playing? - J35Bacher
Exactly
They went this route with Parent, Favell, Peeters, St Croix, Lindbergh, Froese, Hextall, Roussell, Soderstrom and Nittymaki and more often than not, it worked out pretty well.

They may also have a deal in place to assure that LV takes Neuvirth.

I can't worry about injuries. they happen.
And even if I have two younger goalies on the roster this team is still a bubble team next year. If this team was close to competing for a cup then I would assume they would have made Mason more of a priority.

I agree. However I have a sneaking suspicion that a deal is in place involving LV and Neuvy and a FA goalie will be signed to be paired with one of the kids.

Not saying he's the only one, but he has a manageable contract. What are the contracts of the other goalies?
I think he'll take a forward, I'm just not ruling Neuvirth out.

And this would suck not because Raffl is incredible but because we lose another natural LW, while not upgradibig in that area in five years. Gagne, JvR, Hartnell and Raffl. Gone without really replacing any of them. - SuperSchennBros
Since joining the team 4 years ago, Raffl is one of only 4 forwards with a positive goal differential at even strength. He would be a tough loss for a team looking to improve their 5v5 play next season.

Maybe.
I mean I would be ok with Bishop but I wouldn't want any term past 2-3 year. I could actually handle money 3-5 million as long as no NMC or NTC are attached. That way he could be moved if needed or if a younger goalie shows ready.
I'm sure McPhee has gotten phone calls and is negotiating deals involving sweetners to take on a bad contract or two. Having Neuvy signed for two years with cost certainty would make sense.
I'll probably be proven wrong, but I still believe both goalies won't be back next year.

I don't understand how the Blues past success or lack there of with past superstar players has to do with giving up another current superstar player for slim to no success against the Chicago Black Hawks by using an average player the Hawks had five years ago for one season.
