Anaheim does for the Kings what they couldn't do for themselves; keep their playoff hopes alive.

Thanks for prolonging our agony! Serious question, do you guys think the Ducks will go very far? I think this is the worse team the Ducks have had in a few years. Of course that's what I thought about the Kings in 2012. The argument about fan base was a response to "bandwagon fans". Other then that it means very little. Let's try to celebrate the fact that so cal represents hockey and has contributed to some great hockey. |

This team is a Jekyll and Hyde one. Either a world beater or pathetic looking. Honest answer: Yes, I think they can go far (if they finish 2nd or 3rd in the division).
There's something to playoff experience. Calgary and Edmonton don't have it (especially Edmonton) and it's my assumption one would be the Ducks first round opponent. (Perfect example would be the Winnipeg series of 2014-2015.) I think the Ducks have a huge chip on their shoulder after last year, and say what you want about Carlyle, he's a playoff coach (not only my opinion, same was opined last night by the NBCSN crew) and he'll have the team ready to compete.
After the first round, then we would probably get San Jose. We've always played them hard, and we're 2-1 against them so far this year. If Ducks win, then opponent probably Minny or Chicago. All bets are off after that.
Injuries are a concern (especially with Gibson still out), and between now and the playoffs anything could happen. If the Ducks are healthy, Gibson is back, three scoring lines if Perry stays warm/hot, and with our very good D, then yes, I think the Ducks can go far. Big ifs for sure. |

Hell no! This team is not Finals bound. I'd love to at least get to a game 7 though and see if it was Bruce or the leadership on the ice that was the problem. |

I see what you did there. It's hard to let go of your first love, isn't it?
Of course, Carlyle has been a reasonable playoff coach, especially when he had one of the best teams ever assembled. Thanks to the Kings, it looks like we'll see how good Carlyle is in the playoffs these days with a weaker team. |

No need for sarcasm. FWIW, I wanted Guy Boucher as the next head coach.
My reaction to the Carlyle rehire was disgust, but I have to accept he's the coach and move on. He also took the team to the Western Finals the year before they won the Cup. That team finished 3rd in their division (behind Dallas and San Jose. They also won a game 7, on the road no less.).
Let's see what happens come the playoffs. |

Whatever I think of Lombardi now is irrelevant. What's relevant is he brought us two Cups and for that I am very thankful.
I waited since the mid 80's for the Cups to happen and it made all the waiting worth whiled.
Maybe it's time for a change and I can accept that. Good luck to you guys in the playoffs! Hope we're there!

Don't you think you need to go back to 5th period? I don't think middle school is over yet! |
