Was your dad's best friend named Johnny Depp? - Feanor
No, his name was Bill and he was a fantastic guy that had a spiteful crack-addicted wife.
But whatever, he's a guy, so it had to be true. I mean, it's only a falsified child molestation claim, nothing serious. |

“Obviously, we got to do a little bit better,” coach Dave Hakstol said, “but no it’s not a change in personnel.”
- SimmerDown17
I completely expected him to drop the hammer and publicly ream those guys out and make wholesale changes to the coaching staff with 13 games left. What a loser of a coach! |

Dude's an bumhole and not a very nice person.
Being an bumhole doesn't automatically make you a rapist simply because someone says you are. I'm not saying 100% she was lying, but from the bits that I've read, it's more likely that he didn't do it.
But sure, he's a man, and he doesn't seem like a saint, so let's just assume that whatever anyone says about him is true without any credible evidence. - jmatchett383
Being suspicious doesn't mean I assume it's true. |

Please tell me what good it would do to publicly humiliate and/or change the PP/PK coaches at this point in the season. |

I have never said he did it. I simply look at his verified history and formulated an opinion of his character. The process found him not guilty of those charges. Doesn't mean I suddenly change my opinion of him. He's not a nice human. |

You never said he did it, correct. But your tune was a bit harsher last time it was brought up. And he's a complete jackass. That doesn't mean he's a rapist.
Also, his villified past would make him a good target for such a claim, would it not? |

Yes, because since many men do it, we should automatically assume that all men do it if they're accused of it.
I sincerely hope that no woman ever falsely accuses you of sexual or physical assault, because guess whose word is going to be believed by any/all mutual friends of yours and the police? |

That's a horrible system. I sincerely hope that you're never falsely accused of a sexual of physical assault against a woman, because, you know, playing the odds, you probably did it. |

Call me crazy but if your players aren't good at killing penalties all year long is it that much of a stretch to change up the PK?
I'm not saying they should fire Lappy (right now) or publicly call out VandeVelde for the plumber that he is but at least do something different.

No, but these are things that should have been done either last year or earlier this year. Publicly stating so at this point would do nothing but humiliate a coach and/or player when your season is all but over. |

Personally I don't care if Lappy and his lapdogs get humiliated, it's a results based industry. When I don't do my job I get fired, it sucks but it's reality. There's nothing to lose here.

Does your boss call you out in front of the whole company and then call all heads of business at your competitor's offices to let them know how poopty of an employee you are? Because that's what making a public statement about the coach would be doing, essentially.
Right now, firing them will do no good. This offseason, when they are able to get players from other coaching staffs, they can make changes. Right now, they wouuld just be trying to bandaid the system. If they want to change PK deployment, that's one thing. Calling out the coaches or players publicly after 69 games will do nothing. |

Allegedly a wife beater - hockeylover
You gotta play the odds. Whenever a woman accuses a man of a sexual or violent crime, it's best to assume it's true without any credible evidence. I mean, who cares if it ruins friendships, causes him loss of employment, and leads to months of unwarranted public and private shame and humiliation? Gotta play the odds because a small fraction of men (not small enough, granted) actually do it. |

You're right, it will do some things:
1) Let other possible coaches let them know that their coach isn't afraid to humiliate them at press conferences.
2) Slightly, at best, improve our PK
3) Make it harder for men who have done their best (not good enough) to get jobs after they've been relieved.
At this point in the season, is it likely that publicly placing blame on and changing the coach/personnel on the PK will lead to anything but moderate improvement? Who is your pick to replace Lappy as PK coach right now, keeping in mind that no other NHL/AHL/CHL head/assistant coaches are available?
Edit: Clouds are really Frost Giants in disguise. |

This is usually a great way for coaches to be perpetually unemployed and to lose the trust of the players they are trying to coach.
I once saw a coach get fired after guiding his team to the Stanley Cup Finals for saying something mildly negative about the team in an interview because the players got salty over it. True story. |

You're probably right, I'm just frustrated. I don't have an answer on who to hire, just want some heads to roll.
