I may been one of the few here that think he really has not done a good job with coaching or with roster decisions. - LeafMan
He took a team that finished dead last this year, added rookies, and at the 68 game mark they are very much in the playoff hunt.
It's the Leafs Nation pendulum again (and again and again and again) - Babcock was the greatest coach who ever lived 2 months ago, and now he's the most over-rated, over-paid coach to ever put on a tracksuit and wear a whistle.
A 19 year old who is 2nd in the league in rookie scoring has been brutal because he hasn't scored in 8 games.
C'mon, fellas. This is the reactionary crap that has left us stewing in mediocrity for 20 years.
It's a process. We are ahead of where we realistically should be. Let's give Babcock credit for that.

I question things when I see mistakes, which I have all year with Babcock, sir Wedgie.

I get a good laugh out of people using his salary as an "insult" to Leaf fans. poop they could pay him 20mil a season and I'd not give a poop. BELL AND ROGERS, quite possibly the most hated institutions in Canada are paying that money.

yeah, the salary thing doesn't matter. it's not cap related so fans shouldn't even care what he makes or the janitor or stick guy, etc.. etc...

I haven't delved into the details to back this up for examples but... what coach IS a good coach then? Only coaches who win with a rag-tag bunch of poop players?
I think evaluating a coach is best left to their peers/colleagues. - markmark

As you/we should, but even Crosby will make a baffling play or Doughty might look like Gardiner on a bad night.
I just agree with Wedgie in that we shouldn't paint the guys career off of some bad decisions unless it's a night in, night out problem over a big sample.
i'll have to see those later to comment... but in general if you find one example of Burrows doing things that cross the line, you'll find 20 of the those other guys... they are in a different class of pest

Perfection is something no team will ever see from anyone in hockey. Quenville, Sutter, ect all make decisions that don't work out which is then called a "mistake"
Like one said above he turned a 30th place team full of rookies into a playoff contender in one year. He has turned Kadri into a really good player when we and previous coaches thought all hope was lost.
Babcock is a really good coach and he deserves a lot of praise for the work he has done so far.
I disagree with decisions he makes as well. Like putting the 4th line out every time after a goal. But his decisions has brought the Leafs into a playoff race.

When judging Babcock, all I ask is that Leafs fans first look at the defence he has to work with.
It's not a pretty sight. - Atomic Wedgie
yeah when your two most reliable defensive d men are hunwick and polak its a bit hard to blame the coach
rielly is having a tough year as he learns to play a more rounded out game
zaitsev has been a pleasant surprise... he's the perfect guy to pair up with gardiner on the second pairing... bumping up to the 1st pairing is necessity, not desire on the coaching staff's part i am certain of it.
if they can find a guy who can compliment rielly on the top pair and upgrade their bottom pair by a bit it would look so much better
