Which is a credit to the coach. Building confidence for a player that has been a giveaway machine. If I recall - scored a pretty nice OT winner and is better than he was in the past. Leafs need a 1-2 shutdown pair and Gardiner is not that guy.

Unless you are Maurice. Apparently you need to poop on your players to develop them and Babcock is a joke for not doing so.

let me be clear... so long as kaptaan is posting in a friendly manner and talking hockey he will not be considered to be a troll.

if he steps over the line that is for leafman and i to decide on how to handle it.

so lets move beyond the name calling please

Agree 100%.. i don't even know who those guys are that Turris plays with... the comment that he'd be behind either Kadri or Bozak has no merit when considering all the facts...

also, for the other guys, not you Dozzer, calling me a troll... i have absolutely not trolled this board since the well before the summer incident where pages were getting locked down and there was a big hullabaloo about Nux fans and Leafs fans going after each other...

In fact, I issued a blanket apology for trolling Leafs fans on this board a couple of different occasions.

Calling me a troll doesn't make sense in light of all my comments on this board after I decided not to troll anymore. i'm not sure what more some regular posters on here would expect of someone other than to acknowledge past behaviour and apologize for it....

I hope as Leaf fans you guys don't buy into the sugar coating Babcock uses, we all can see how brutal Gardiner is in the D zone. Last night, those little passes behind his net to the opposition was maddening, every single shift he did it, no look passes right to them!

I joked that all sens fans were now updating their locations. To be honest, I kind of wondered about you. At least you're finally being honest with yourself.
- 1979AD

not a Sens fan per se... now that Burrows is there, i'm more inclined to watch their games and root for him and the team to succeed there.

i'll cheer for the habs and sens in that order for the most part, in the East.

Nux aren't going to be in the playoffs and they aren't winning their div, conf, or President's, regular season championship, trophy again any time soon, so there's that also...

Columbus 25.805 years
Carolina 25.557 years
Winnipeg 25.258 years
Buffalo 25.423 years
Edmonton 26.120 years
Tampa 26.241 years
New York Rangers 28.227 years (oldest in the league)

Toronto: 25.606 years

the leafs are the 4th youngest team in the league. not one team younger than them are in a playoff spot. HNIC talks out of their ass for the most part.

also... nhl numbers has info dating back to the off season... just look at the number of players signed... not even full rosters

quant hockey stays up to date

Columbus: 1 guy in top 20 rookie scoring
Carolina: 1 guy in top 20 rookie scoring
Winnipeg: 1 guy in top 20 rookie scoring
Buffalo: no guys in top 20 rookie scoring
Edmonton: no guys in top 20 rookie scoring
Tampa: 1 guy in top 20 rookie scoring
New York Rangers: 2 guys in top 20 rookie scoring

Toronto: 6 guys in top 20 rookie scoring.

So it's not crazy to be a little optimistic about the future...

I've thought for a long while now that Babcock is overrated.. especially with regards to team Canada. I think based on NHL performance and stanley cup wins and appearances a guy like coach Q, Daryl Sutter, or even AV would be ahead of him...

they have a lot to learn yet but there is no question the skill is there

which is leaps and bounds beyond anything we have seen from the leafs in the past decade

yet there are people posting here, who are getting totally bent out of shape for the team losing a game here and there and losing ground in the playoff race...

He has proven he is a great coach with a roster of superstars, the rest is up to debate.

No I fully understand what he's doing, support it and I think it's great. Why, you ask? The media. I (frank)ing hated Ronny Wilson because he griped about players to the media constantly. You sort your poop out behind closed doors with your players, face to face. This also why I think Maurice's comments were just sour grapes because he was poop here.

Hard to understand why anyone Sens fan, Nucks fan - whatever fan would root for a weasel player like Burrows. He can learn from the hit-from-behind, spearing, take out the best player on the opposition cheap shot artists like Neil and Smith. I suppose your favorite Bruins player is Marchand and Raffe Torres must be your all time favorite.

I haven't delved into the details to back this up for examples but... what coach IS a good coach then? Only coaches who win with a rag-tag bunch of poop players?

I think evaluating a coach is best left to their peers/colleagues.

toronto media (including national media based in toronto) is total shiite... they're full of crap and always trying whip people up into a frenzy in one direction or the other...

fans keep falling for their overhyped crap so molson or whoever can sell beer to people who keep tuning into their productions...

I may be one of the few here that think he really has not done a good job with coaching or with roster decisions.

I think the worst and the best thing the Leafs could've (and continue to do) is get a whiff of the playoffs this year: worst, because we're all losing our bi-polar minds, best, because playing hockey that matters mid-March is part of becoming a better team.

He's maddening at times.

I remain convinced: he grew up with superior skating skills to the kids he was playing with, so he never learned how to actually play hockey.

Ferraro was all over him last night - it was pretty funny.

burrows isn't in the same category as those guys you mentioned or a guy you didn't mention, matt cooke for that matter...

he, doesn't go out of his way to try and injure anyone... no clipping, knee on knee, elbows to the head, blindsiding guys, etc... etc...
