Ahem.

It's called #2 Dion Phaneuf

- TheMussel

Wouldn't that be hilarious.

And then next year, David Clarkson wins a Cup.

Honestly, seeing Julien play vs the Bruins in the playoffs would be epic.

It's weird, but despite the playoff teams in the Metropolitan Division being a bajillion ponts above the Atlantic, only Pittsburgh scares me.

Washington chokes. It's what they do.

Something missing about the Rangers.

Until Columbus does something, they haven't done anything.

To me, the dark horse in the East is Ottawa. They just seem like they have a certain somethin'-somethin'.

- Atomic Wedgie

Yeah the Penguins are definitely the best team in the east, but for some reason I feel this year might be different for Washington. I agree with ottawa though. They're playing really well and seem to have a team well suited for playoff hockey. We'll see what happens

Oh it would be fantastic

Plus, when it's the habs in the playoffs, I can sell one of the games and pay for the two I go to

I have a feeling that the Caps are the Sharks of the east.

Do they, though?

They've had hot goaltending. Their forward group sucks, and after Karlson their defense is nothing to write home about.

Hot goaltending is all you need sometimes, but Anderson just got hurt again.

I honestly don't think they match up well against any of the playoff teams, over a 7 game series... assuming they get to play 7 games these playoffs.

But Karlsson will put up a bunch of points in that time, so their fans will be appeased, and Melnyk will be able to fund his floating infinity pool.

Wouldn't it be great if both the Bruins and the Leafs missed the playoffs and I could rip on you both?

Stone, Turris and Hoffman are pretty damn good and I think the physicality some of their players, along with their god awful system could give them a round or two.

Tampa will make the playoffs. Nothing can stop Hedman/Kucherov/Vasilevsky the way they're playing.
- Scabeh

Probably.
the leafs once again blew another perfectly good opportunity to make the playoffs.

I hope they re sign Boyle or that will be a horrible trade.

Turris would be our fourth best center

Stone is good, but they don't have anything worthwhile after him.

Leave it to the Leafs to turn our fanbase schizophrenic by jumping in and out of a playoff spot every other night.

Trade rielly for the shut down 1st pairing defence men the leafs need. His value is higher then Gardiner and the time is right to take advantage of the teams screwed over by the vegas draft.

Rielly and JVR for lindhom, Manson and bieksa for cap and vegas protection reasons

Go with the 4-4 protection, sign zietsev after the fact and be prepared to loose uncle Leo, Martin or Leivo

There is an outstanding core coming out of a 2 year rebuild with the cap flexibility to keep the kids and buffer with vets before there ELC run out. This line up has 23 mil in cap space minus what you pay zietsev, brown, Hyman and a back up.

FORWARDS
Z. Hyman ($ 900,000) --- A. Matthews ($ 925,000) --- M. Marner ($ 894,166)
L. Komarov ($ 2,950,000) --- N. Kadri ($ 4,500,000) --- W. Nylander ($ 894,166)
J. Leivo ($ 612,500) --- T. Bozak ($ 4,200,000) --- C. Brown ($ 686,667)
M. Martin ($ 2,500,000) --- F. Gauthier ($ 863,333) --- N. Soshnikov ($ 736,666)

DEFENCE
J. Gardiner ($ 4,050,000) --- N. Zaitsev ($ 925,000)
H. Lindholm ($ 5,713,415) --- J. Manson ($ 825,000)
M. Marincin ($ 1,250,000) --- K. Bieksa ($ 4,000,000)

GOAL
F. Andersen ($ 5,000,000) --- C. McElhinney ($ 800,000)

Extras
E. Fehr ($ 2,000,000) --- C. Carrick ($ 750,000) --- A. Marchenko ($ 1,450,000)
