Really? he has played 60 games this year.
- CanuckDon

He's played 59 and you spelled his name wrong.

He hasn't played one full season yet. Lots to learn still. Same goes for Hutton. Going to be seasons before those players see playoffs again. Get some valuable experience under a good coach. How can that be "unfair"?

Yes, Goldobin was papered. Would you really send Hutton down? He is in his 2nd full NHL season. I can see an argument for Stecher but not Hutton.
- CanuckDon

I suppose it would break the 'norm' and perhaps hurt his feelings but, going from a sheltered, non-competitive environment to playing 25 plus mins a night on the top pairing of a team fighting for a spot would in my view, be better for him in the long run.

The likelihood of it happening however is zero....

Benning gives green light to Willy to play kids more to see where they are at.
Keeps Virtanen and Subban in Minors lol
I don't think Subban is anywhere close to being ready for NHL action, but you would think that if they recognize the rest of the season is a bit of wash, and they want to evaluate, then bring them both up and give them a shot. If Subban sucks like we think he will, trade him now while his value is decent afterwards .

Is he waiver exempt or not?
- neem55

First year ELC, so i believe he's exempt but there's all that post deadline player movement BS with guys being papered and restrictions on the amount of call-ups etc, so I'm not definitively sure.

I can't believe he's playing the "feelings" card. Are we seriously talking feelings again?

offensive defensemen have never been more sought after than in todays game. I still think he sucks and we should trade him, but he is top 20 in points.

One more point in five fewer games playing for a superior team in an inferior league.

Let's call it progress and hope he turns out better than Kassian.

Ya, I personally do not get the Subban hate.
Fact of that matter is, the vast majority of haters here have never seen the kid play for 60 minutes yet are totally willing to write off his entire career based on what? A pre-season viewing, comments from HF, his size/weight, blowhard posters here?

Simple fact is, we won't know if he's NHL caliber until he's given the opportunity to play in the NHL. Hard to believe eh.

From the Utica games I have watched, I had hated his defensive play. I give him credit for being 140 pounds soaking wet and willing to go into the corners, but he is essentially a 4th forward on the ice with a decent shot. I can't get over his defensive lapses, they are just horrendous.

Feelings? Can you name a situation where a team has papered a guy that has played 2 seasons on a teams top 6? It's a bit ridiculous that you are arguing this.

I go by what his coach says and the number of healthy scratches. You don't get the hate, I don't get the infatuation.
