I was watching Inland Empire last night, a seriously warped 2006 David Lynch movie, and there's a killer Beck track that comes on and I wished that it could be 1993 again even just for a while... I was in the Army but we were not at war, the economy was good, Chili Peppers and Nirvana were in the air, and our country's biggest problem was a blue dress.

The exposure of the CIA and FBI as being the ones behind a lot of the smuggling in of those drugs. The emergence of a worldwide sex-trafficking and human-trafficking market. More in the United States than anywhere else, btw.

How about the growth of the Fast Food industry and retail industry that in turn, removed domestic manufacturing jobs and turned America's working-class and skilled laborers into retail workers making minimum wage and working less than 40 hours a week? All the while making fat (frank)s out of us. Consumption machines.

How about the rise in prominence of the idea of a Christian Nation, despite dwindling numbers of people who actually believe in Religion. Neo Naziism. Re-emergence of the KKK.

Yeah, I sometimes break out the nostalgia-trimmed sunglasses and look back at the majesty that was the 90's.
