Honestly, his post was far more on point than your original post.

Okay then what jobs? Where are the data about how many people are showing up now? What kind of jobs? Cool, food service is 90% of it. Cool. Bunch of minimum wage jobs and a stupid Hotel with an outdoor ice rink. Cool.

Why invest in a city if you aren't investing in it's people?

You guys are straight delusional. You have no idea. You got a job? Good for you, why do you care so much about the 300 or so jobs he created in a country where there's almost 100 million citizens out of work?

Oh great, some 20 year old serves men in suits now, how great for them.

I fail to see how Buffalo is any better since he showed up. He bought the Sabres right when the entire country was coming out of a recession, the city was bound to have a minor revival because of the Millennials finally being old enough to leave their parents houses in the suburbs and moving into the city limits.

What I see, is cluttered and ragged streets, abandoned buildings right next to new buildings, bars and restaurants everywhere and gentrification driving up rent prices.

The ONLY people reaping the benefits of Pegula's revival are slumlords and business owners. That's. It.

You want quality of life? So do the other 200,000 people in the city. I said he hasn't invested in public schools and the like and someone says that's not his responsibility. Sorry, but I'd rather have educated locales than gaudy buildings and overpriced microbreweries.

Invest in the people, the city will flourish. Invest in your investments and they WILL stop coming.

IMO that calling CZE and SUI "sub par" would be fitting if he were on team Canada. He wasn't and those teams aren't "sub par" in comparison to his.

Sweden hasn't lost a pool play game in the World Juniors since 2007. Those teams are absolutely sub-par compared to his.

To say the city "isn't better" because of Pegula's project is a stretch, but you are mostly right. The biggest impact the Canalside/downtown "revival" is on morale for a select group of people. It's no longer an eyesore, but it doesn't make Buffalo a destination, no matter how many local publications want to point to narrowly questioned surveys.

This city still needs one or two major multi-billion dollar companies to come here and call this place home. That's how jobs are going to come. The things the Pegulas are doing are nice, but that's all they are, nice. They don't put a major dent in this city's financial state. They help, but not nearly enough that people think they do.

No joke. Oh hey guys, great opportunity to have a Buffalo vs. Toronto WC, with Matthews, Eichel and all the other young guys but let's do an ageing NYR team at home vs. that team we let host the first one. They're small market, only the locals know what their name is.

They didn't even have to do it in New Era Field again, poop man. Could have been at UB, the football field holds 33,000+ and they can finally put some stands down on the field. Why the (frank) they leave it an open wasteland is beyond me. I get it, vision lines. Put the makeshift bleachers on a platform. Problem solved. FFS.

- BeadyEyedDouche

The Buffalo-Toronto Winter Classic will draw when both teams are good. I have zero issue with them not doing that yet.

I have not signed/agreed to any contract yet with any team. The report at this moment is false.

Exactly.

He's doing 'nice' things. He improved 1 square block where people were already flocking to because of sports, concerts and nostalgia. I always walked around the arena anyway whenever I went down there. Now there's just things to spend money on, too.

Always walked around the Harbor anyway. Chippewa and Elmwood were always busy ANYWAY.

What has he actually done FOR the city besides keep it's sports teams, which I still say the "city" would have been much, much better off without. Millions upon millions of tax dollars going back into the city, instead of back into our mediocre at best sports teams that have more history of losing and sucking than anything.

Remember Finland (one of the sub par teams) won the tournament last year. Different team other than a handful of players, but still...they won it all. Including beating Team Canada to get there.

Dude, are you (frank)ing kidding me. Seriously, you are going to double down on this absolutely pathetic position?
Before you critize others, how about looking in the mirror. I am absolutely dying to hear what you have done to help the city. Have you given '000's to NFTA, public schools, muni housing, etc.
Joke of a post.

Just read that if we signed Viktor Antipin that he wouldn't be eligible to play for us until next year. Is that true? If so, do we know why?
