I would get excited but the Winter Classic is very stale you have about what 15 a year now ridiculous and it's not even on New Year's Day anymore
- GERBE!!!75PTS

What killed it was the same 5 teams being in it every year and the 72 Stadium Series games they've had in the past few years.

Loved the idea of a Winter Classic. Loved the idea of a Heritage Classic every few years. Maybe 1 Stadium Series per season, preferably every other year if they must keep doing it.

10th anniversary Winter Classic not IN Buffalo, though? Why even bother having us in it then? Just do Philly vs. New York like Bettman wants.

Surprised it's just not Chicago vs Detroit 10x a year.

The idea was great until they milked it and got all the money they wanted

it should have been every four years in my opinion..

and yes the 10th anniversary would have made sense Toronto versus Buffalo two of the next greatest USA players but hey it's NHL they know how to promote their product

No joke. Oh hey guys, great opportunity to have a Buffalo vs. Toronto WC, with Matthews, Eichel and all the other young guys but let's do an ageing NYR team at home vs. that team we let host the first one. They're small market, only the locals know what their name is.

They didn't even have to do it in New Era Field again, poop man. Could have been at UB, the football field holds 33,000+ and they can finally put some stands down on the field. Why the (frank) they leave it an open wasteland is beyond me. I get it, vision lines. Put the makeshift bleachers on a platform. Problem solved. FFS.

Tells you he performs well against his equally undeveloped peers. So you've got guys like Sam Reinhart and Rasmus Ristoleinen, who dominated the competition and translated that to the NHL, and guys like Grigorenko and Hodgson, who dominated the competition and flopped.

I think it's a positive look to be dominant, but determining NHL skill with Junior skill is two different worlds. In saying that, I believe Nylander's skills are too great to deny. However, he may take a few years to start producing. And that's fine. Because his ceiling is pretty damn high.

- TheSabresTaco

I think that people undervalue WJC performances. Yes, there are flops like Grigorenko or Hodgson, but looking at the data, it seems that most at the top go on to be great NHL players. Below are the top 3 point getters for each WJC tourney in order from 1st to 3rd:

2009-Hodgson, Tavares, Eberle
2010-Stepan, Eberle, Hall
2011-Schenn, Kuznetsov, Granlund
2012-Kuznetsov, Friberg, Granlund
2013-Nugent-Hopkins, Armia, Granlund
2014-Teravainen, Forsberg, Maenalanen
2015-Reinhart, Petan, McDavid

I would say that approx. 15/21 are very good NHL players (doubles count). Of those 15, about 10 of them are elite players. To get most points in that tournament is an accomplishment that "usually" translates to the pros. If Nylander is a bust, he's a pretty rare one. We agree about the high ceiling and the time, but IMO the WJC scoring is a bigger deal than it may seem perhaps.

Lol.

I'd love to see a blue and yellow Goat head uniform concept done right. Hell, just do that exact uniform in Blue and Yellow, preferably the white unis.

Nylander was not great in the games that mattered for them. He had an assist in the Canada game, and was shut out against Russia.

He did most of his scoring against sub-par comp
