CBJ/Flyers is a meh game. Cool if CBJ wins but if Philly wins who cares.

Other three are huge though

Nope, not until each team is sequentially checked off the list of those that can make the postseason. You have to remember who we are, and how luck has favoured us in the past...
- lumlums

The Leafs have to win games to make it. I just don't see the Flyers being way better than the teams fighting for it.

flyers are kind of a mess. i guess they could pass us, but probably means both of us would be out of the playoffs.

NYI are playing their horrid backup tonight. Carolina should get the win. They are a lot better than teams give them credit for. If they sweep the home and home they are tied with the Panthers with the same amount of games played. They aren't a basement team

Dermott plays left side. Dermott is fighting for minutes with Reilly and Gardiner, not Zaitsev or Carrick.

true.

But honestly, I wouldn’t hate it if we packaged something like carrick with kapanen and a 1st for a solid RH dman.

I am always kinda torn with that. It's almost got to be a perfect situation. Can never have too much defensive (or even organizational) depth. I am fine to continue to draft and build this way. I say no to trading draft picks until our picks are continually in the 25-30 range. That's how we got into the mess in the first place.

Heard a scout talking on the radio the other day about this years draft class.

He basically said there is no top end talent like previous drafts (McDavid, Eichel, Matthews, laine) but has a decent top 4 I think he said. Then it's a randomness after that. He said it lacks depth, and anyone in the middle to top 1st Rd will barely get a cup of coffee in the NHL. Obviously there will be surprises like every draft but this one sounds like it blows.

i think you can't trade a pick until you know it won't be in the top 3 (or lottery protect it).

i'm not fussed about trading away picks. but you need to trade for picks in other trades to not create a long-term hole.

Huge games. It's stressful being in the thick of things. I'm not sure if i can handle it for the next decade. What a ride it's going to be
- TonkaPhaneuf

Oh yeah way more stressful for a fan when your team becomes successful

The Canes are intriguing...

I feel like they are always going to underachieve.. they'll over value their players and not add the depth they'll need. Aho is alright... Skinner and Terevienen meh.. they have some good pieces on defence so do a lot of other teams. Too small of a market imo.. the owner just wanted to spruce up his portfolio and he did that when they won a cup.. I assume he'll sell very soon.

Fair point, given that a solid RHD the most coveted position outside of #1C, who are you really getting for Carrick, Kapanan and a non lottery 1st?

not sure.

i'm hoping we can score a bit of a bargain from team like minny/anaheim etc. that would otherwise lose a good dman to vegas for nothing.

They have talent that's for sure. Their D is actually quite promising.

But you are right the team isn't an attractive spot for FA and they can't even spend to their cap

Well if you think you can grab Matt Dumba then great. Remove the first and obtain Vatanan then do that as well!
